How a Korean-Made Implant Is Actually Placed

Today, we would like to explain an actual case to help those who are considering which implant brand to choose.

The patient underwent root canal treatment on a front tooth and received a molar implant, which were successfully completed using a Korean-made brand.

The implant was placed in a premolar, which is more visible than a tooth located farther inside. Since the procedure was performed together with root canal treatment on a front tooth, we paid particular attention to making it look as natural as a natural tooth.^^

When the patient first visited us,

there were many visible gaps between the teeth.

The area where the Korean-made implant would be placed this time was the area marked #14,

where only the tooth root remained.

We will explain the details through the treatment plan.

Dental treatment requires not only a considerable cost

but also a significant amount of time,

so we decided to proceed in stages.

2023. 11. 08

First, looking at the image of the left #14 tooth,

we can see that the cavity had progressed all the way to the end of the tooth root,

resulting in inflammation.

Although the cavity had progressed deeply,

it had also spread over a wide area,

so we decided to place a post in the tooth after root canal treatment

and cover it with a prosthesis.

When a cavity has spread over a wide area

and little or none of the remaining crown is left,

a post is placed into the tooth root

to build up the crown portion of the tooth.

This is necessary to restore the tooth securely with a prosthesis.

2023. 11. 08

The tooth with only the root remaining was extracted,

and the implant was placed.

Since bone grafting was necessary,

it was performed at the same time as implant placement,

and we decided to perform the second-stage surgery five months later.

Are Korean-made implants reliable?

Of course they are.

Some people are occasionally suspicious because the price is relatively low.

However, not to mention the most well-known brand, Osstem,

most brands, including Neo, Megagen, and Dio,

offer excellent quality.

They have already been used for a long time,

and they also come with warranty periods, so you can feel reassured.

This is an X-ray taken two months after surgery.

The jawbone around the implant had formed well,

and the area that underwent root canal treatment also looked much improved.

Since the progress was good, we scheduled the second-stage surgery as well.

You know that proper oral care is also important

for achieving good treatment results, right?

Since the patient had questions about brushing care,

we also provided additional toothbrushing instruction.

2025. 5. 29

This was immediately after the second-stage surgery for the Korean-made implant.

The procedure is much simpler than the first stage,

when the fixture corresponding to the tooth root is placed.

The second stage can generally be viewed as a preparation process

for making the prosthesis.

Using a material called a healing abutment,

we intentionally exposed part of the implant root

so that we could prepare to take an impression for the prosthesis.

For reference, the impression is taken

after the gums have healed sufficiently.

On the day the impression was taken for the implant prosthesis, we also placed the front-tooth prosthesis.

Because aesthetics are important for the front teeth,

the tooth was restored with a zirconia prosthesis, which offers excellent aesthetics.

2024. 7. 24

This is how the area looked about two months after the second-stage surgery for the Korean-made implant,

after the prosthesis had been placed.

Fortunately, the treatment was completed successfully,

and the patient is currently attending regular checkups

while we establish treatment plans

for other areas that require treatment.
