Here’s how to proceed with implants after tooth loss!
Hello, I’m Director Lee Hyun-seop of Seoul Centum Dental Clinic.
Some people have a tooth extracted in preparation for an implant and then begin treatment,
but many also visit us after losing a tooth.
As you know,
if a missing tooth is left untreated,
the surrounding teeth can gradually shift
and problems with the bite can occur!
So today, to help prevent this,
after a tooth is lost,
I’ll explain in detail how implant treatment should be done.

Consultation Details
In the x-ray taken when the patient first visited our clinic,
it was already possible to confirm the tooth loss, right?
Fortunately, there were no bite problems
and the teeth had not tilted much.
~
In this case,
because a total of three teeth were missing,
we recommended implant treatment as soon as possible.
Also, other treatments besides implants were needed,
so we decided to proceed with them together.
🦷Brief Explanation of Tooth Extraction🦷
---
(1) Why is extraction done?🔹When a tooth must be removed due to cavities or gum disease🔹Due to an accident or external impact
(2) What happens if it is left after extraction?🔹Loss of tooth function (chewing)🔹Temporomandibular joint problems may occur🔹Surrounding teeth may tilt, causing bite problems🔹Bone loss at the extraction site and gum tissue

Implant Placement After Tooth Loss
This time, I was going to explain implant treatment after tooth loss,
but I have to leave out the explanation of crown treatment
for practical reasons^^
Still, to briefly explain the treatment steps,
we first began zirconia crown treatment on the tooth at the upper right in the photo,
and then proceeded with implant surgery.
Fortunately, the implant was placed successfully without difficulty,
and one week later, we removed the stitches and checked the progress.

The first placement was successful all the way to prosthetic installation,
so as the next step, we placed two more in the lower left.
(in the photo, the right side)
As before, we took a CT scan before placement
to precisely check the position and direction.
Just like last time, while waiting for osseointegration
to securely fix them in place,
we continued regular checkups.
Fortunately, the patient visited often,
continued to receive checks, and communicated well with us,
so the treatment proceeded without inconvenience.

In this way, a total of three implants were placed
in the spaces left by tooth loss.
As the fixtures osseointegrated and became firmly fixed,
we temporarily placed provisional prostheses
to help the patient go about daily life without inconvenience.
Finally, we restore the final prosthesis
and complete the treatment.

Even after implant placement, it is good to come in regularly,
such as for a one-month checkup.
In this patient’s case, they really came in well,
so the treatment was successfully completed.

- Completion of the Implant After Tooth Loss
This patient visited multiple times,
and as we continued to communicate steadily with me and the clinic staff,
they said that a lot of trust had been built.
Even after the implant surgery,
inlay treatment was additionally performed,
and recently we decided to begin new root canal treatment.
We first became acquainted in 2022,
and as of 2025, the patient is still visiting us.
I’m grateful that they have continued to trust us and come in,
and I’m glad that we have been able to keep checking the progress after implant surgery.
If you also have a tooth that was extracted and then left untreated like this patient,
please consider at least getting a consultation first.
If you have any questions beyond what I explained today,
feel free to contact us anytime.
Thank you^^
