There are a total of five grades. SA, CA, HA, BA, SOI

Basically, SA is the basic product, and it is commonly used for implant cases that are not special.

It is generally used only when the condition of the gum bone is somewhere between average and good.

It is also the most commonly sought-after basic option because it is often used as a material for insurance-covered implants.

In the case of CA, it is a product developed to supplement SA grade, and calcium ions are coated on the surface.

I think many of you have heard since childhood that calcium is good for bones.

With CA, the period of osseointegration is shortened, and initial fixation can be strengthened.

In the long term, it can be seen as similar to SA, but in terms of how well it settles at the beginning, it can be considered a higher-grade option.

It is often recommended when bone integration may be slow, such as in cases of diabetes or osteoporosis.

HA coats the surface of the implant with a thick layer of hydroxyapatite, which is the same component as human bone.

It helps induce a chemical bond with the bone.

It can be described as an implant grade with high affinity for bone, so it can show good outcomes when used in areas with low bone density.

In particular, it is recommended for areas with weak bone quality, such as cases that are difficult to perform without a sinus lift procedure, or the back area of the lower teeth.

BA forms a thin nano-scale layer based on calcium phosphate on the surface, maximizing the bone regeneration response.

It osseointegrates faster than CA, but the fatal drawback, of course, is that because it is a higher grade, the price is higher.

SOI, the last grade of Osteum implants, is similar to the SA surface, but it applies a specific oxidation process and color coating technology so that the degree of osseointegration can be assessed.

What this means for implant patients is that, from the doctor’s point of view, it is possible to immediately check whether it has stabilized well in the early stage, making it easier to judge the progress quickly and respond accordingly.

However, because it is a patented technology, there is still little data available, so it is not widely used yet, but it is being used in cases with weak bone quality.

Since it is a premium line, the price is also not cheap.

I learned about implant grades, so what should I choose? If you do not have a case with extremely low bone density or a similar issue, there is no need to use a high-grade implant.

The most commonly chosen option is usually CA.

Because how well it settles in the early stage is more important to the outcome than people often think, many choose CA.

Its price is also reasonable, which is why it receives even more choices and love.

When selecting an implant grade, of course, your own condition is very important.

If there are no special issues, I can say that CA is the most commonly chosen option.
