Hello~ I am Jung Jae-young, Director of LaVian Plastic Surgery.
I feel a deep sense of connection and familiarity with those who, after much thought, make the effort to come find me for a consultation.
If you come in with prior knowledge of my consultation philosophy, I believe our consultation will become a smoother and more meaningful time, so I would like to make a few requests.
First, since I also take an interest in the major or line of work of the people who come to consult with me, there may be times when I ask questions about those things.
Because the surgeries I perform are not procedures that must be done due to functional problems, I need to consider the reason you are contemplating surgery and how the recovery period after surgery may affect you.
Second, I do not perform a 3D CT scan before consulting with people who are considering facial contouring surgery for the first time.
The reason is that indiscriminate and frequent CT scans can, due to radiation exposure, lead to side effects such as blood cancer, thyroid cancer, and infertility.
Usually, people considering facial contouring set up consultations at several plastic surgery clinics in a single day, and if a CT scan is taken at every place they visit, they will be exposed to a large amount of radiation in a short period of time.
Without considering those aspects, I have a strong aversion to the superficial sales tactics of clinics that, for commercial purposes, start by taking a CT scan and then provide a consultation.
Third, just as I devote my valuable time to consultations, I would appreciate it if those who come to consult with me would also show a small amount of consideration and etiquette by turning off their mobile phones during the consultation.
Most people who come to see me for a consultation have likely made a difficult journey after much deliberation, but I think that very rarely, there may also be people who visit out of interest in our clinic's system and my consultation style rather than the original purpose.
Of course, in such cases, while talking, I sometimes do feel a somewhat unfamiliar sense of distance.
However, I believe that making phone calls during the consultation or recording the consultation content is not courteous to either side.
Fourth, among those who come to discuss revision facial contouring surgery, there are people who hope to open the 3D CT attached to their email at our clinic, but I would appreciate it if you could at least make the effort to save the 3D CT to your own USB drive before coming in.
Fifth, if you had facial contouring surgery at another clinic and have no particular discomfort or problems, I hope you will refrain from coming simply to check whether the surgery was done well.
If you had surgery, it is important first to trust the doctor who performed it. If you are feeling any discomfort or notice any problems, please first consult the doctor who performed the surgery and then come to see me.
I feel a deep sense of connection and responsibility not only toward those who have had surgery from me, but also toward those who have only had consultations with me.
Therefore, while meeting new people and consulting with them is sometimes enjoyable, hopeful, and happy for me, there are also cases that are very upsetting and painful.
The upsetting and painful cases are when, after consulting with me, people undergo surgery elsewhere and then return to see me because various problems have occurred, or when they come to consult with me after becoming extremely confused and having acquired overly theoretical knowledge, and then distrust what I say.
The psychological distress experienced by those who consulted with me and then underwent surgery elsewhere is deeply regrettable and painful for me as well, and I hope you understand that when my honest views about my surgical philosophy and experience are compared and debated against commercial and theoretical explanations, I also have limited consultation time.
I sincerely hope that your consultation with me will be helpful to you.
