The
purpose of our infracture technique for reduction malarplasty is not merely a
reduction of the zygomatic complex, but comprehensive contouring of the malar body
and arch.
We
have found that the anatomical variation of the frontal process of the zygomatic arch and the zygomatic process of the temporal bone is very important in reduction
malarplasty
Therefore,
we want to explain the technical pitfalls of the infracture technique (the
importance of the pivot point in the infracture technique and the degree of
infracturing amount) with three-dimensional graphic animation (Fig. 1).
We
also analyzed postoperative results with pre- and postoperative three-dimensional
reconstruction of CT scans.
