It was a short conversation, but I could feel the patient’s feelings in it. It wasn’t, “I want to be pretty,” but rather, “I want to smile confidently.” I really liked that feeling.

I’ve always thought that the role of a dental clinic is to find naturalness in a person’s existing appearance rather than forcing a change😄

In fact, I also have a front-tooth complex,

so I used to avoid smiling.

After the examination, it wasn’t that the front teeth were actually spaced apart; rather, the structure of the teeth themselves made them look that way.

Looking at the X-ray, the roots were not spread apart and were in a normal position.

Looking inside the mouth, the front teeth had a slightly jar-like shape: the upper part was normal, but they narrowed toward the tips, making them look spaced apart.

This shape naturally makes the gap stand out more when light passes through, even if the teeth don’t move.

So in cases like this, orthodontic treatment alone can’t solve it, and the tooth shape needs to be redesigned.

They said it had been a while since they last came to the clinic, so we also checked scaling and their basic gum condition. There was some swelling and bleeding in the gums, but after partial scaling, it was at a level that could settle down quickly^^

Filling the space between front teeth is easy, but making it look natural is a completely different matter.

The goal of this treatment was simple. We decided to help close the gap between the front teeth without making it obvious to anyone that they had been “bonded.”

The front teeth felt a little short, so we offered the option of lengthening them as well.

If the length is extended, when the jaw is pushed forward, the lower teeth touch the upper teeth, so adjustments are needed to prevent contact with the lower teeth.

The patient first wanted only the gap to be closed.

We decided to match the length and width ratio of the two teeth and adjust the translucency and shape so that it would look natural even under natural light when smiling.

Because the patient was a minor, before treatment we called the guardian, explained the treatment process, costs, and expected completion time in detail, and obtained consent.

After cleaning the tooth surface, we placed the rubber dam and began treatment.

We also carefully carried out the surface treatment process to ensure good adhesion.

Front teeth are at the center of the face,

so even a slight difference in angle or thickness

That’s why we checked from multiple angles and matched the length and curves of both teeth as closely as possible.

Before finishing, we had the patient confirm the final shape.

Looking in the mirror, they laughed and said, “Wow! It’s so pretty!” and at that moment all the tension instantly melted awayㅎㅎ

Finally, we smoothed the rough surface and polished it so the light would reflect evenly.

After the treatment, they checked it in the mirror and said, “Now I can smile confidently!”^^

This case was not simply a matter of a gap; the teeth themselves narrowed toward the ends like a jar, making them look more spaced than they actually were.

Rather than simply filling the space, we focused on adjusting the edge lines and angles of the teeth to correct the shape itself.

Front tooth resin treatment is closer to the concept of “recreating the shape” than just “filling the space.”

In cases like this one, where the teeth look spaced because of their shape, curves, angles, and proportions are much more important than color.

Resin is a treatment that can make a much bigger difference in the outcome depending on how it is planned.
