Doctor, I had my front teeth done 20 years ago.
I had consultations at several places,
and everyone suggested a different treatment method.
At the local dentist’s office, they told me to go here if I wanted it to look seamless
and really pretty.
Thankfully, as time has passed, more and more patients have been visiting our clinic through the trust and recommendations of many dentists.
(We would like to take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude to the doctors who refer their valuable patients to us🙏🏻)
Three of the front teeth had crowns, and the spaces in between were natural teeth, so over time the discoloration and wear of the natural teeth became more noticeable.
The biggest concern was that the color looked uneven.

"Would resin be possible too?" was the question they asked.
Why I recommended laminate even though resin was possible

The tooth in the middle that had no restoration was slightly protruded forward.
If resin were added in this condition, it would reduce the amount of tooth reduction, but the tooth could appear even more protruded.

Resin clearly has the advantage of being a treatment that requires almost no tooth reduction, but it cannot always be considered the best choice in every case.
So I explained that for this tooth, laminate could create a more natural result than resin.
I explained it with a sketch myself haha

When deciding on a treatment method, the most important criterion is not the material, but the position and direction of the teeth.
The gums that needed treatment before the teeth
The patient said they wanted to improve the gummy smile, where a lot of the gums show when smiling.

Because the gums covered a lot of the teeth, we decided to perform gum contouring on six teeth from canine to canine.
After that, once the gums had stabilized, we planned to make a model and examine the shape and form of the front teeth to establish a more detailed plan.
Laminate and crown, two methods at the same time

-
Color uniformity
-
A natural shape
Based on the patient’s request, we roughly planned to redo the crowns on 3 of the 6 front teeth and restore the other 3 with laminates.

In this case, because laminates and crowns are different materials, it is difficult to reproduce perfectly uniform color.
However, since the patient came from far away through a dentist’s recommendation, we held many long discussions with the lab director and decided to make them as closely matched as possible.
Communication for a natural result
Before and after gum contouring

After the gums had stabilized, we removed all the existing restorations and checked the condition of the teeth again.
- Areas where minimal tooth reduction was possible were treated with laminate
- Teeth with protrusion and structural limitations were treated with crowns
Using a 3D scanner, we scanned the patient’s mouth and used that to create a diagnostic model for planning the future restoration shape.
Based on that model, we made temporary teeth and were able to check the final restoration shape in advance.

We removed the existing restorations, made a small amount of adjustment for the laminate fabrication, and checked the tooth color.
We also focused on adjusting translucency and brightness so the color would not stand out—so that it would not look too bright or too dull.
While using the temporary teeth in between, we adjusted things one by one by checking the feel when smiling, pronunciation, and the contact with the lips^^
251210
After completing the final restorations, we checked whether the gum line requested by the patient, the uniform tooth color, and the natural tooth shape had been well achieved.
We also carefully checked whether there were any sensations of catching on the tongue or any uncomfortable areas, and thoroughly reviewed the overall bite before finishing the treatment.
After completing the treatment
After all the restorations were set and they looked in the mirror, they were quiet for a while and then said, "Coming back and forth from Suwon was actually a bit hard, but all the trouble I went through is completely forgotten now~" haha

The goal of this treatment was not to make everything white no matter what, nor to make it flashy.
It was simply to resolve the patient’s complex and create a natural smile.
Unlike when they first came in, they looked happier from the moment they walked out. I hope they keep up with maintenance and use them for a long time!

Are you constantly bothered every time you smile?
Actually, I had a complex about my front teeth too, so I can understand how patients feel better than anyone.
I also had a complex about my front teeth, so every time I took a photo
I couldn’t smile and instead closed my mouth tightly^^;
The change in expression before and after treatment.. isn’t it obvious?🫢
If your teeth have gradually started to bother you every time you look in the mirror, then it may be time to get treatment.
Once a tooth catches your eye, especially a front tooth, it can become an aesthetic complex and a source of stress.
