Busan is a place full of memories.
It’s a place that makes me feel good just thinking about it.
So when I was invited to give a lecture in Busan,
I immediately said yes without even thinking twice.

When you set the hotel parking lot in the navigation and get out of the car,
this is the view you see right away.
This view really suits the word
“resort.”
There’s no need to travel overseas. Seriously.
Whenever I come to Busan, I stay at this hotel.
Actually, this is where I won over my wife too, haha.

Is there a baby who turns into a total daddy’s clingy shadow as soon as they go outside?
He really turned into an extreme clingy shadow.
He looks like he’s rejecting his mom;;;
I tried to take some nice photos,
but he was like that.

Still, I managed to get one.

He keeps doing this outside.
He keeps demanding to be held by Daddy.
That’s why my right shoulder is always dirty.
With all the baby’s runny nose and drool,
there’s always something getting on it.

Even though it was late on Saturday night,
I was truly grateful that everyone listened carefully to the lecture.
I’m actually running a dental clinic in Gangnam,
but I think Busan is just as much of a fierce battleground as Seoul.
In that sense, I hope the lecture content was helpful
to the doctors, even if only a little.
I should try giving lectures more actively.

Actually, more of a problem than the lecture is taking care of this little one.
What an adorable kid;;

When we become grandparents,
we decided that someday we’d live in a large apartment near Dongbaekseom.
We hope that our child will come visit with their grandchild,
play while looking at this wonderful view,
and leave happy.
But honestly, I’d say this view here really has no substitute.
When my wife first went on a blind date with me here,
and then came back once more after we got married,
she said it would be nice to live here.
She asked if Haeundae was this nice everywhere, haha.
So I remember telling her, “It’s only like this around here.”
I said it’s the same if you go just a little further into the city.
Still, if you live with this kind of view around you,
I think it would make weekends feel like something to look forward to.
When people ask whether it’s Gwangalli or Haeundae,
I used to prefer Gwangalli when I was younger,
but now it’s definitely Haeundae.

On Sunday morning, the day after the lecture,
we went to a place that was open for breakfast,
but there was a wait.
But after trying it, I understood why.
It was really, really delicious.
The signature gomtang was great.

A baby who has to touch everything once
and put it in their mouth.
That curiosity already broke the living room TV
and the kitchen microwave too.
Worried about what he’ll break next,
my wife and I came downstairs promising that if there was a TV in the hotel,
we would absolutely not let him near it.
Thankfully, he wasn’t interested in the hotel TV.
Maybe he thought it was just a black wall.

What made this trip to Busan especially meaningful was this:
The owner of the dental clinic in Miryang,
where I worked early in my career,
prepared a gift for our baby’s first birthday
and matched it to my Busan schedule.
It was such a touching gesture.
I’ve always thought of him as an adult I want to resemble,
and this made me think that even more.
Thinking about it again,
Busan is a place full of memories.
