Hello.
This is Park Jae-hyung,
Chief Director of
Wonjin Dental Clinic.

Gangnam Wonjin Dental Clinic
Today, I’d like to talk about partial orthodontic treatment.
If you have been considering front teeth partial orthodontics
and wondering,
Do I need full orthodontic treatment too?
I think it would be helpful
if you use this article to check
whether partial orthodontics is possible
and what the criteria are for deciding.

Gangnam Wonjin Dental Clinic
When people think of orthodontic treatment,
many imagine full orthodontics,
where appliances are attached to all the teeth, including the molars.
However, full orthodontic treatment is not necessary for everyone.
If the molar bite is relatively stable
and the front-to-back relationship of the front teeth
can be formed without difficulty,
partial orthodontics can also be a treatment option
worth considering.
| ※ In orthodontic treatment, it is important to properly analyze the patient’s condition. ※ Whether partial orthodontics can be applied may vary depending on the individual condition, so consultation with an orthodontic specialist is necessary. |

Advantages of Partial Orthodontics
Gangnam Wonjin Dental Clinic
Because partial orthodontics has a limited treatment area,
its treatment period is shorter than that of full orthodontics.
In general, it is often completed within 6 to 8 months,
and in cases where the tooth movement range is not large,
treatment may even end in about 4 months.
(However, treatment results may vary from person to person.)
So when the conditions for partial orthodontics are met,
rather than presenting only one option,
we explain the differences, advantages, and disadvantages
between full orthodontics and partial orthodontics in detail,
and then guide the patient
so they can make their own choice.

25.02.11 Front View (Before Orthodontic Treatment)
Condition of the teeth at the first visit
This patient visited us with the concern,
“Please only do partial orthodontics for my front teeth.
I want the front teeth alignment to look neat.”

25.02.11 Occlusal View (Before Orthodontic Treatment)
The teeth appeared somewhat butterfly-shaped,
and the front teeth were slightly rotated sideways.

25.02.11 Side View (Before Orthodontic Treatment)
From the side,
it looked even more prominent.
Based on the diagnostic results,
in this case,
we decided to proceed with partial orthodontics
using an MTA appliance.

MTA Partial Orthodontics
Compared with conventional brackets,
MTA has a smaller appliance size,
so the discomfort when it is attached is relatively less,
and the aesthetic burden is also lighter.
It is one of the appliances
that can be usefully applied
when the treatment area is limited, as in partial orthodontics.

<Advantages of MTA Partial Orthodontics>
-
The appliance is small, so the feeling of a foreign object is minimal
-
Relatively less noticeable aesthetically
-
Appliance structure suited for partial orthodontics
For these reasons,
people who worry that the appliance will be uncomfortable
or that the orthodontic appliance will stand out
often feel highly satisfied.

#13 - 23 MTA Partial Orthodontic Treatment Results

25.08.13 Front View (After Orthodontic Treatment)
The upper front teeth, which had been rotated like a butterfly,
were naturally improved in alignment,
and we could see that they had become
stably and neatly arranged.

If you are in one of these cases,
you may want to consider partial orthodontics.
-
People who are worried about the discomfort of orthodontic appliances
-
People who feel a strong burden about appliance exposure
-
People who want to quickly proceed with front-teeth-focused orthodontics
Partial orthodontics
is not a treatment that can be applied to everyone,
but when the conditions are right,
it can be a meaningful choice
in terms of treatment period and satisfaction.
| ◈ In this case, orthodontic treatment was carried out for about 6 months. ◈ Treatment may vary by individual and side effects may occur, and these photos were used with the patient’s consent to help understanding of the treatment. - Individual differences in treatment: Treatment results may vary depending on the individual’s oral condition, cooperation, and other factors. - Side effects of orthodontic treatment: Pain during tooth movement, root resorption, gum recession, temporomandibular joint discomfort, possible relapse of tooth position, etc. ◈ The before-and-after photos in this post were taken of the same person, in the same location, with the same angle and lighting conditions. |

Gangnam Wonjin Dental Clinic
Partial orthodontics is not simply a treatment that makes teeth straight quickly,
but rather a treatment that should intervene precisely only as much as needed,
while not harming the current oral condition or bite.
Gangnam Wonjin Dental Clinic prioritizes health,
minimizing pain and achieving natural-looking results.
We aim to provide care that helps patients
fully understand and feel confident before choosing treatment.
If you are considering front teeth orthodontics in Gangnam,
please take a calm look first at whether it is truly the treatment you need.
