A little while ago, a familiar patient visited Yonsei Garden Dental Clinic. Our connection with this patient began 9 years ago, in October 2015. She first came to us as a 7-year-old girl with an anterior crossbite, where the front teeth bite in reverse.

It is best to improve an anterior crossbite as soon as it is detected. To correct the reverse bite of the front teeth, we began facemask treatment. Because the patient and guardian cooperated well, the anterior crossbite improved within a short period of time. After the crossbite improved, we maintained it with FRIII (Frankel appliance).

When she returned one year later, there was a slight relapse, and her front teeth were biting almost edge-to-edge, close to an incisal bite, so we encouraged her to wear the appliance a little more.

When she visited again in 2019, her baby teeth had already fallen out and all of her permanent teeth had erupted. On the lateral X-ray, the anterior bite was being maintained more stably. It was now the right time to begin second-phase orthodontic treatment, but since the patient was scheduled to study abroad in Canada six months later, we explained that the timing of treatment could be started according to her schedule.

And when the patient came back to our Yonsei Garden Dental Clinic after a long time recently, she had already grown into a young lady who was almost 170 cm tall :) (Normally all accessories should be removed before taking the photo, but... even on the X-ray you can see piercings here and there haha.) She came in for a regular checkup while briefly visiting Korea during vacation, and although she had a rotated upper front tooth and a slightly protrusive mouth, she had a second-phase orthodontic consultation, but with her departure scheduled for one month later, there was not enough time even for partial orthodontic treatment.

For patients who are entering military service or studying abroad, we often recommend Invisalign.
