Rabbit Teeth Veneers: Treatment to Achieve Natural Front-Tooth Proportions

The first place people look when you smile is your front teeth.

Even a slight difference in the length or proportions of the front teeth can change your overall impression.

This patient was concerned that their front teeth looked prominent when smiling because of what is commonly called “rabbit teeth.”

Rather than simply making the teeth whiter, the patient wanted natural proportions and harmony, so treatment was planned using Objetto’s signature design approach.

The patient

✔ was concerned that the two front teeth looked long, creating a rabbit-teeth appearance, and

✔ wanted to improve the somewhat strong impression created by the front teeth showing first when smiling.

The examination showed that tooth #21 had an existing crown restoration.

Therefore, if veneers alone had been placed, the color or shape could have looked mismatched with the existing crown, so a treatment plan that considered the overall balance was necessary.

Treatment plan

For this case, treatment consisted of an Objetto veneer on #11,

an Objetto veneer on #12,

an Objetto veneer on #22,

and replacement of the crown on #21.

The color and shape of the existing crown were redesigned, and the teeth were planned so that the veneers and crown would blend together like one natural dental arch.

Improving rabbit teeth does not necessarily mean significantly reducing the front teeth. The length and shape were determined by considering the patient’s facial shape, lip line, the proportions of the teeth visible when smiling, and harmony with the lateral incisors on both sides.

The photos show that the front teeth (#11 and #21) appeared relatively long, with a difference in texture between the existing #21 crown and the natural tooth. When smiling, the front teeth also drew attention first.

In addition, the frontal intraoral photograph showed areas where the existing restoration and natural teeth did not blend together completely.

After treatment,

✔ the length of the front teeth was adjusted naturally,

✔ the proportions between the left and right sides were balanced, and

✔ the newly made #21 crown and Objetto veneers blended naturally, producing a result in which no single tooth looked out of place.

Rather than making the teeth excessively white, they were created to preserve translucency and color similar to the patient’s natural teeth, completing a natural-looking smile.

The photos also show that the front teeth no longer stand out as much when smiling, while the overall dental arch has changed to create a softer, more stable impression.

When an existing crown is present, it is important to create a treatment plan that considers harmony with the surrounding teeth.

As in this case, the teeth that require it can receive newly made crowns, while the remaining teeth can be treated with veneers, allowing the color and shape to be matched naturally.
