Today, I’d like to talk about
tennis, which is one of my long-time hobbies.
Three years into tennis, the importance of the forehand
I’m now in my third year since I started playing tennis,
and the more I play, the more I feel the importance of the forehand stroke.
What is a forehand stroke?
🎾 Forehand stroke in tennis
A forehand stroke in tennis is the most basic yet also an attacking shot.
It is characterized by swinging so that the palm of the hand holding the racket faces the direction of the ball.

✅ Basic movements
- Ready position
Stand with both feet shoulder-width apart and your knees slightly bent.
Hold the racket lightly with both hands in front of your body and wait.
- Takeback (Backswing)
Rotate your body toward the direction the ball is coming from (to the right if you are right-handed).
Pull the racket back and prepare as if drawing a semicircular arc.
- Impact
As the ball rises after the bounce, extend the racket forward to hit it.
Keep the wrist fixed and use the rotation of the arm and shoulder together for stability.
- Follow-through
After hitting the ball, finish by letting the racket rise naturally up over your shoulder.
This maximizes the power of the swing and also helps prevent injury.
At first, I hit only with my arms, so the ball felt light and lacked depth,
but over time I realized that a proper swing
ultimately comes from the entire body.
In particular, the twist of the upper body is key.
Beginners often rotate both the upper and lower body together while pulling the racket back,
but if you do that, the ball won’t have much power.
On the other hand, if you keep the lower body stable
and only twist the upper body on top of that, the legging is created naturally,
and the power transferred to the ball changes completely.
After I realized this too, my ball power and shot quality definitely improved.
From simply getting the ball over the net,
I can now hit deeper and more powerful shots.
Consistent lessons and changes in health

In fact, I also had a one-hour lesson this morning.
I’ve been learning tennis consistently three times a week,
and interestingly, after exercising, I don’t feel drained—instead, I feel like my body is being filled with energy.
My all-day fatigue is reduced, and my daily life feels much more energetic.
Also, medically, it is known that aerobic exercise that makes the heart beat faster should be done at least twice a week.
In that sense, I think tennis is a really good exercise.
I’ve also been combining it with dietary control and recently lost about 5 kg.
My body feels much lighter, and I’m enjoying every day.
Words of recommendation
Tennis is not simply an exercise where you hit with your arms,
but something I keep feeling is that it is a full-body exercise that uses the twist of the lower and upper body together.
I recommend that you also experience a younger and more energetic life through exercise.
There is definitely joy in being able to pursue both a hobby and health at the same time, just like I do.
