Hello, this is Dr. Park Tae-o from Relive Clinic.
Many people are more concerned than you might think about having sunken cheeks on the side of the face. This cheek hollowing can be something people have had since childhood, but it usually develops over time due to bone loss, loss of the subcutaneous fat layer, and side effects from lifting procedures.
Whatever the reason for the cheek hollowing, once it appears, it often changes the face into what people call a peanut-shaped face or a skull-shaped face, and that is when the stress begins..
If it was caused by a procedure, time may solve it, but in some cases it does not return. That is why people look into fillers or collagen boosters (Juvelook Volume, Radiesse, Sculptra) and come in for a visit.
Cheek filler? Collagen booster?

The most important thing in side cheek hollowing is restoring volume. The representative procedure for increasing volume is filler, and in the side cheek area, I think it is the safest and easiest method.
In fact, the choice of procedure depends greatly on the patient’s preference, so I tend to recommend based on that preference. Today, I’ll organize the content around filler.

The area shown in the photo above is where side cheek filler is placed.
Because the degree and range of hollowing differ from person to person, design is extremely important.
2cc Side Cheek Filler

This is a before-treatment photo of someone I know. As you can see, the cheekbone area looks quite prominent, and the jaw muscles are developed below the side cheek area.
In fact, for this type of face shape, you have to be careful because doing only filler can make the face look even larger.
We did not add a large amount of side cheek filler, and about 2cc was performed.
Since this person did not have a very deep hollow, not much filler was used, and depending on the face shape, more filler may be needed.
2cc Side Cheek Filler Review

This shows the result after slightly filling in the volume with side cheek filler and shaping the contour with masseter Botox. As you can see, the size of the cheekbones is the same, but the overall face shape has changed.
In my opinion, using multiple procedures together is almost essential when trying to change the face shape.
But you may still feel anxious and wonder, “What about side effects?”
To summarize:
Side effects? Swelling, bruising, and so on
When filler is injected in the side cheek area, it is not an area where dangerous blood vessels pass through, so I always tell patients that it is okay to receive the procedure with peace of mind. If there are side effects, the most common ones are swelling or bruising at the needle insertion site. However, we always perform the procedure very carefully while keeping all possible side effects in mind.
Since I already wrote this post, I should do a bit more searching on papers related to side cheek filler before dinner..
This was Dr. Park Tae-o. Thank you.
