London Edition - London 5-Star Marriott Hotel, Part 2. Marriott Bonvoy Platinum, Breakfast. Recommended London Hotel with a Great Location.

Continuing from yesterday’s post, starting today I’ll be introducing some recommended 5-star Marriott-affiliated hotels in London.

Let me say this once again: London has more than enough excellent hotels, and the hotels I’m introducing are only mid-range (?!) options among them..

In my first post, I introduced JW Marriott Grosvenor House London, right?

It is near Hyde Park, making it convenient for visiting affluent Kensington, seeing Buckingham Palace, or heading west.

However, the hotel’s age and the fact that the meals I received through Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status were not particularly tasty seemed to be reasons not to recommend it.

Also, these days, it seems that many Prestige Class and First Class award tickets are being made available on Korean Air’s Incheon–London route ^^ I put myself on the waitlist and was lucky enough to try Korean Air First Class. . .

The London EDITION

(The London EDITION)

This is the only EDITION property in the United Kingdom. It is a brand I personally like very much.!

It is one of the six brands in Marriott’s highest ‘Luxury’ tier.

Along with JW Marriott, which I introduced last time, there is The Luxury Collection, which was awarded to Josun Palace, as well as W and Ritz-Carlton, which were part of the lineup in the past. The remaining brands are St. Regis and EDITION.

It is a luxury hotel with an eco-friendly design. In Asia, there are five nearby properties: Ginza and Toranomon Hills in Japan, Shanghai and Sanya in China, and Singapore.

The location is excellent. It is directly across from Oxford Street, making it an ideal location for travelers!

The biggest advantage is that major spots such as Regent Street, the luxury shopping street, Soho, and the London Museum are all close enough to walk to.

The London EDITION is housed in one of the many buildings in central London with an elegant, historic feel.

Those yellow lights at the entrance look like something I’ve seen many times in Hollywood movies..

As is typical of London’s 5-star hotels, there are friendly doormen who open the door and welcome you. London trips always feel so pleasant~!

Using the same method as when I searched for prices at JW Marriott Grosvenor House London, I found that a Friday night stay one month later was about £490, or approximately 890,000 won~! That is why I stayed in the room mentioned above for just one night.

The interior is unbelievably beautiful :)

It feels like the residence of a British aristocrat. The interior did not look particularly old.

The bar and lounge are to the left of the entrance, while the restaurant is through the room on the right.

At night, the space becomes packed with white patrons. My first impression was honestly, “This is a hideout for wealthy white people.” Hahaha

Anyway, I felt really good visiting The London EDITION, a top-tier Marriott-affiliated hotel in London. lol

Superior Queen, Guest Room, 1 Queen Bed

I’ll protect my wife’s portrait rights....

The hallway has a distinctly new-hotel feel. I don’t think this was because we checked in late; the room had apparently been assigned from the beginning.

Just because a hotel belongs to the Marriott family does not seem to mean that every hotel must follow all the rules associated with Marriott status.

EDITION also does not follow rules such as always providing room upgrades or always offering breakfast.

However, after discussing it with them, I heard that we received one breakfast voucher for two people. In any case, the room was not upgraded~

As soon as you enter, the wood-focused interior immediately stands out, as you would expect from EDITION.

The room uses high-quality wood throughout, so even the scent of the room is pleasant. And since this is London, the portraits used as interior decoration are another nice touch.

EDITION bathrooms seem to make extensive use of white, black, and wood as design accents.

As you can see, the walls are covered with small white tiles that give off a subtle charm.

One distinctive feature is that the bathroom is very spacious, and the horizontally elongated sink adds an especially luxurious feel.

The glass-enclosed shower also has a distinctly luxurious feel.

EDITION uses Le Labo products, and ah~ the fragrance was so lovely ㅠㅠ

Among the amenities I have encountered during my hotel stays, these were probably my favorite so far.

Speaking of Le Labo products, they reminded me of Dr. Joo Ki-hoon, who likes Le Labo products....

Ta-da~! Doesn’t it feel like stepping into a Nordic cabin?

True to the concept of the EDITION hotel, there are high-end wooden wall panels, soft yellow lighting, and a rug-covered floor..

To be honest, it is a little small, but the refined atmosphere is very pleasant as soon as you enter.

This is what the TV area looks like from the bed, with a small sofa on the left.

One unusual feature is that there is no main light capable of fully brightening the room. It feels somewhat dim.

And as you can tell from the location of The London EDITION, there are no rooms with particularly outstanding views.

At best, the view would be of a narrow road... Our room had even less of a view than that, lol.

Don’t be disappointed if there is no view. That is the case for everyone...

I was happy to find a welcome dessert waiting for us!

British biscuits. A delicious treat made by the chef~~ I tried one, and it was indeed very good.

One thoughtful detail, unlike at other hotels, is that two adapters are provided as standard.

UK plugs are very unusual~~ You absolutely need an adapter, but at The London EDITION, they were provided by default.

Plenty of bottled water is also provided in paper cartons.

I assume making coffee is provided free of charge....?

I didn’t try it, so I’m not entirely sure..

There is a capsule coffee machine from a brand called mogimix.

The minibar, which I don’t usually eat from.

Actually, I’ve never eaten anything from a minibar..

I didn’t try anything myself, but if you have plenty of money to spare, help yourself. Haha

The room alone costs 900,000 won...

Berners Tavern - Breakfast

You can enjoy breakfast at the restaurant inside The London EDITION.

Actually, more precisely, you can purchase meals here at any time.

Berners Tavern has an impressive Google Maps rating of 4.5. It is quite a tasty restaurant.

Rather than eating an underwhelming meal somewhere mediocre, you would be much better off eating here!

When we checked in, a concierge gave us a token that, “at his discretion,” allowed us to have breakfast once.

We stayed for only one night, so.. in any case, breakfast was effectively included (?!) I don’t think this was because of Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status. I think we were simply lucky ^^

From the entrance, the restaurant interior opens up beautifully all at once, creating a truly impressive and pleasant space.

Numerous paintings hang on the walls, and a magnificent chandelier hangs from the high ceiling.

The very friendly staff will show you to your table, and then you can order as much as you like.

With that token, you can freely enjoy all the menu items as if you had an all-access pass~!

We were hungry... and since they told us to order as much as we wanted, we really did order as much as we wanted. Let’s calculate how much we ate at the end of the post..

When you sit down, they bring you two complimentary cups of coffee.

There are no prices on the menu. I wonder if two cups cost around £10..

We ordered some things we wanted because we were hungry, but ended up ordering this much..

Smoked Salmon & Scrambled Eggs - £18

This is the salmon and scrambled eggs I ordered.

Isn’t it perfect for breakfast?

The salmon was rolled up, with salmon roe arranged on top in a somewhat brutal presentation..

The scrambled eggs were cooked just right. They were truly delicious.

As you may know, because productivity is important in Korea, white-shelled eggs are not very common. The scrambled eggs made with these eggs, which I enjoyed freely in Europe, were rich and delicious.

Crispy Dingley Dell Bacon Sandwich - £19

The menu says this consists of a fried egg with onion jam on sourdough bread from Borough Market.! I’m explaining it in detail because this was the only dish I did not get to taste. Haha

My wife says she enjoyed it and that it was delicious ^^

French Toast ; half - £17 -> £11

As you can see on the menu, items marked with an asterisk on the left side of the name can be ordered in a half size.

So we ordered half of the £17 French toast.

The French toast, served with bread topped with cranberries and sweet syrup, bacon, and cream, was delicious. We finished it in no time. Haha

Full English - £29

The Full English costs more than 50,000 won.

This was my wife’s main order! She said it was delicious because the mushrooms were full of flavor.

The ingredients were so fresh and high-quality that I was envious of how delicious they were simply grilled and served..

Seasonal Fruit Salad - £10

A plate of fruit costing nearly 20,000 won! We ordered this twice.

It was a fruit salad filled with all kinds of expensive, delicious fruit: strawberries, kiwi, grapes, blueberries, oranges, grapefruit, and more.. It was packed with juicy, sweet fruit. It was worth the price :)

Pain au chocolat , Croissant - £5 each

Two pieces of bread costing more than 9,000 won!

It turns out that pastries are not only delicious when you eat them in France. Haha

The pastries served at The London EDITION were also full of buttery richness and flavor :)

They also provided plenty of large pats of butter and fruit jam, which made them even more enjoyable.

Hash Brown - £6

Various side dishes cost £6 each. Three hash browns costing more than 10,000 won..

They were delicious.. Of course they should be delicious..

We also ordered fresh orange juice and premium tea, although I didn’t take photos of them!

Altogether, it came to well over £130.... Was this a breakfast worth 250,000 won......

Today, I wrote about The London EDITION, the second of the 5-star Marriott-affiliated hotels in London!

It is a hotel with a Google rating of approximately 4.6, and the most basic rooms cost around 800,000–900,000 won.

The advantages are:

I think the biggest advantage is the location. Being close to Oxford Street is the ultimate benefit for travelers!

The hotel lobby and restaurant are very well maintained. The room interiors are also made with beautiful wood, allowing you to fully experience EDITION’s distinctive luxury.

The breakfast is excellent. Considering London’s extremely high prices, the food was good enough that it could even be considered a reasonable value.

The scent of the Le Labo amenities exclusive to EDITION is truly amazing. Although you cannot purchase them..

The disadvantages are:

There is no executive lounge. That may be why they provided breakfast ^^;

When there is usually an executive lounge, you can stop by for coffee and drinks during the day, and it serves as a useful base before heading out to explore. That was a little disappointing. Haha

There is no swimming pool. Many hotels are old, and although they are 5-star properties, some do not have pools. I feel that a hotel at the level of EDITION should definitely have one... Perhaps the pool was omitted because the hotel is relatively small.

You cannot receive all the main benefits of Marriott Bonvoy Platinum status. I was given breakfast and late checkout until 4 p.m., but I was told that these were not required benefits. The fact that the benefits available vary depending on the circumstances is a somewhat ambiguous drawback.

I tried to compare the 5-star Marriott-affiliated hotels in London where I stayed as objectively as possible.

Although it has several advantages, I’m not sure I could strongly recommend it given its high price ^^ Still, The London EDITION has many wonderful qualities unique to the brand, so I think it would be worth staying for at least one night if you have the opportunity!
