Levnate Natural

Today’s treatment topic is no-prep, minimal-prep laminate.

I’d like to briefly review it while looking at the case.

This was a man in his 50s who came in for laminate treatment because he wanted to fix the gap between his front teeth.

It could actually also be solved with orthodontic treatment, but he had implants in several places and did not want to wear braces for a long period.

From the occlusal view, the alignment is relatively good.

However, there appears to be tartar below the gums (subgingival calculus), so simple scaling and gum treatment were necessary.

Is there any particular reason why teeth become spaced like this?

If tartar slowly accumulates around the teeth and is not removed in time, and chronic periodontitis worsens, pathological tooth movement can occur and cause a gap between the front teeth.

However, in this man in his 50s, his gums were not that bad; he had a naturally occurring gap between his front teeth.

And if you look more closely, not only is there a gap between the front teeth, but you can also see that the tooth edges have chipped away little by little.

This is a pattern often seen in middle-aged and older adults who have used their own teeth for a long time.

The outermost layer of the tooth, the enamel, chips away and makes the teeth look less attractive.

If you look carefully, you can also see traces of resin treatment on the sides to fix the gap between the front teeth.

Because resin can turn brown over time, it may seem acceptable for the first few years, but it is a treatment that gradually builds dissatisfaction.

We planned treatment with Levnate Natural.

You may not notice it when the mouth is at rest, but when he smiled a little, the gap between the front teeth became very noticeable.

There’s also the saying that gaps between the front teeth let good fortune slip away, right? We decided to treat it with Levnate Natural, part of the laminate lineup at our Lev Dental Clinic at Sinsa Station.

The Levnate Natural line does not simply pursue a white laminate.

It is a laminate that aims for a kind of beauty that improves the appearance by making the color one or two shades brighter while keeping the shape neat yet natural — somewhere between artificial beauty and natural beauty.

A dedicated ceramist affiliated with our Lev Dental Clinic is assigned to design and color it directly, considering everything from the smile line to the facial midline, the position of the lip line, skin tone, and the arrangement of facial muscles. It is a mid-tier laminate completed through this process.

How much of the tooth is shaved?

Before shaping the teeth, we first measured the tooth color.

At the moment, the 4M1, 2, 3 shade guide is photographed together.

The term no-prep laminate is extremely popular. It means no removal of tooth structure... but that can’t really be true, can it?

Because to smooth out the chipped areas, a very small amount of tooth has to be shaved down... Even if it is in 0.1 mm units, some tooth reduction is still necessary to create space for the laminate.

Just as a juice with a certain minimum orange content can be labeled accordingly, the term no-prep is often used even when only a slight amount of shaping is done within a range that does not cause sensitivity for treatment purposes.

And if you think about it, the amount removed varies from tooth to tooth, so one tooth may be no-prep while the adjacent tooth may be minimal-prep. When accepting marketing terms, be wise!

We performed gum contouring with a laser and completed minimal preparation so the laminate could be placed.

If you compare the before-and-after photos above and below, you’ll notice that the teeth actually look cleaner(?).

Once we have created such a neat shape, preparation for making the laminate is complete.

Six laminates made by hand for one person only.

If you look closely, you may feel that they look slightly translucent. The Levnate Natural grade has a thickness of about 0.3 mm.

If you look carefully, you’ll notice that the laminates do not look like they were cut uniformly with a ruler.

As mentioned earlier, because the patient wanted a result that looked as if nothing had been done while still looking natural, we created this custom Levnate Natural piece reflecting individual characteristics.

This kind of work is only possible with a highly skilled dedicated ceramist. It feels a bit like a handmade workshop.

With gum contouring and just six Levnates, you can see such a transformed result.

The gap between the upper front teeth has been fully resolved, and we also achieved a brightness increase of about two shades, which the patient wanted.

With the ceramic Levnates bonded in place, the teeth look more lustrous, and the discolored areas that had been filled with resin disappeared completely!

Usually, when people first decide to get laminate treatment, I recommend starting with the upper teeth.

Because the change is so dramatic, even treating only the upper teeth brings a great deal of satisfaction!

To complete laminate treatment, you also need to see the face photos.

Did you think the teeth looked somewhat gray?

Were you disappointed because they weren’t the pure white color you imagined... a bright white like a sink?...

If you look at the inside-of-the-mouth photos, that is not the case at all.

Everyone is different, and every smile is different.

Skin tones are different, and the shape of the smiling lips is different too...

That is why making something truly natural and beautiful is difficult!!

The Levnate we pursue at our Lev Dental Clinic at Sinsa Station certainly aims for improvement that is brighter and whiter, but it also pursues a natural look that won’t become tiring even after a long time.

This was a case that turned out beautifully, almost like the patient’s own teeth.

When you look at the teeth alone, they somehow seemed dark, but when seen together with the lips like this, it makes you think, ah!! This is what naturally beautiful means!! haha

So maybe aesthetic sense is necessary ^^;;

Before & After

There was a dramatic change in shape. The gap between the upper front teeth was completely resolved.

The chipped tooth edges were fixed. Now get used to teeth with a complete shape, with the feeling of becoming younger.

The tooth color became brighter, and the mottled appearance disappeared. These days, we no longer live in a world of filling the sides of front teeth with resin. Ceramic is a more complete material than resin.

The teeth became shinier and smoother. It is now the era of anti-aging for teeth as well.

Actually, photos that include the eyes are even more natural, but we are not posting them to protect portrait rights!

Not only did we resolve the gap between the front teeth, but I think the real significance lies in achieving a natural laminate that suits the individual’s face.

Also, we do not remove much tooth structure. Think of it as precisely shaping the tooth. The amount shaved is clearly shown in the photos, so please check with your own eyes!!

And..... it’s a secret, but after seeing our Levnate results, the patient’s wife decided on the same treatment that very day! Really. I’ll leave a review too ^^
