Baek Wonjang rating ★★★☆☆
Hello.
This is Baek Wonjang’s Food Michelin.
I’m filling up Baek Wonjang’s Food Michelin with the Sinsa Station restaurant series.
Because we often eat lunch and dinner near our dental clinic, we end up visiting many restaurants around Garosu-gil.
In my last post, I introduced Agubonga Cheombong Sinsa Main Branch, a restaurant selected by the Blue Ribbon Survey,
and before that, I introduced Gomtang Lab, a Michelin gomtang restaurant on Garosu-gil.
Bukkyung Restaurant
Actually, the Chinese restaurant I’m introducing today may be less well-known than the restaurants mentioned earlier.
Still, it has a very long history, and it has been loved by people nearby for a long time :)
I’m sharing my review after having jjajangmyeon here. haha

Location: 14 Gangnam-daero 152-gil, Gangnam-gu, Seoul
Parking: Not available.
This is a long-established Chinese restaurant near Exit 8 of Sinsa Station.
Just looking at the sign, it gives off the kind of presence that makes you think, “There’s no way this isn’t a good place!!”
They say the sweet and sour pork and gganpunggi are good... but I rushed over during lunch, so I only had a meal with the doctors and no dishes.
Exterior

The exterior already feels a bit old-school.
The cursive-style lettering is impressive, isn’t it?
The name itself is also fairly ordinary: Bukkyung Restaurant.
It’s a Garosu-gil Chinese restaurant that’s less than a 3-minute walk from Exit 8 of Sinsa Station.
Interior

Since it was the season, they were also serving kongguksu and Chinese cold noodles.
Oyster jjamppong was out of season. haha
The first floor isn’t very spacious. The cherry-colored furniture feels like proof that this has long been a beloved restaurant.
If you look closely, there’s a staircase, so I imagine there may be group seating downstairs.
(In other posts, I saw that many groups also visit here~)

This is the menu at Bukkyung Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant near Sinsa Station.
The menu is placed under the glass on the table.
There is a bit of light reflection, though....
If I had checked the post beforehand, I would have ordered the gganpunggi and sweet and sour pork... Unfortunately, since we visited during lunch, we just quickly ordered meals and ate.
I wanted jjajangmyeon, so I ordered samseon ganjjajang, and the doctors who came with me ordered jjamppong and samseon jjamppong.
Lunch begins!!!

Samseon Ganjjajang (12,000 won)
These days, even ganjjajang costs 12,000 won.
Prices have gone up so much... and this is the very center of Sinsa Station.....
The surprisingly thin noodles are impressive. And the ganjjajang sauce... is not really my style.

The glossy noodles look like they were just boiled, which is very impressive.
They really do look delicious in person.
The texture is somewhat similar to the cold udon at Hyun Udon, one of the famous Michelin restaurants in Sinsa...?
Anyway, the thin noodles are very striking.

You have to pour the sauce over ganjjajang to judge it.
After all, isn’t properly stir-fried jajang what makes true ganjjajang....?
Personally, it felt much more like yuni jjajang than ganjjajang.
I should be able to see raw onion that looks crisp... but it felt like the sauce had been prepared some time ago.
If that’s the case, isn’t it basically no different from regular jjajangmyeon.. disappointing...

As ganjjajang, it was a bit disappointing, but personally, the taste wasn’t bad.
Since it was samseon ganjjajang, it also had some seafood, and of course squid was the most abundant, with a few small shrimp as well.
Personally, it was just so-so~

It does look a little bland, doesn’t it?
It’s the kind of taste you can imagine...!... thud.

Jjamppong (9,000 won)
And then there was the jjamppong chosen by the doctor from our orthodontic department.
The prosthodontics doctor sitting across from me said it looked like ramen broth....ㅎ...
There’s a lot in it, but it still can’t help looking a little plain..

How was the taste?!
I don’t know. I couldn’t steal a bite of the female doctors’ meals....
Still, from what I heard, it was said to be so-so.
Probably, that’s right~~~ haha
I think it would be less delicious than Geumhong Jjamppong, a restaurant near Rev Dental Clinic that we visited last time.

Samseon Jjamppong (14,000 won)
This one, with plenty of seafood visible at a glance, is samseon jjamppong.
There are mussels and squid~ It looks pretty tasty, doesn’t it?
![[Sinsa Station Restaurant] Bukkyung Restaurant - A Honest Lunch Review of Jjajangmyeon at a Place Said to Be Good for Sweet and Sour Pork and Gganpunggi. image 14](https://pub-9f2bb3498faf4d1d8714b41df24753e3.r2.dev/content/clinics/archive/3xr380ejvg/naver_blog/dentist_baek/assets/by_hash/b56ace0ae6bc6b8feac2bd5522dbbe59432a15633b99c636765d64465d0ffa5b.jpg)
This also had a similar-colored broth.
And the doctors seemed to be enjoying it very much!!
Sinsa Station restaurant Geumho Jjamppong
Compared to the appearance of the beef brisket jjamppong at Geumhong Jjamppong, another Sinsa Station restaurant we visited last time, this was somewhat disappointing.
Shouldn’t it be a bit spicy~ and have plenty of toppings too~ haha
Bukkyung Restaurant’s jjamppong looked mild.
We ate well again today.!!!
Conclusion
I’ll visit again to try the gganpunggi and sweet and sour pork.
I don’t have enough experience to rate it with stars.
Honestly, I’d need to go two or three times and then judge it... but I couldn’t exactly go and steal bites from the doctors’ meals...ㅋ
To evaluate the samseon ganjjajang I chose, personally, I had some disappointment.
Above all, as a ganjjajang sauce, it felt closer to what you’d get with regular jjajangmyeon... and the taste was a bit less stimulating and more mild.
For someone like me who likes stronger seasoning, it probably wasn’t the right kind of jjajangmyeon....
Still, it is called ganjjajang... I think there should have been some raw-looking onions visible. That’s disappointing...
Taste: ★★★☆☆
Value: ★★★☆☆
Accessibility: ★★★★★
Facilities: ★★★☆☆
Parking: Not available.
But when I got home and looked again, the gganpunggi and sweet and sour pork in other blog posts looked so delicious, didn’t they?!
I must definitely visit once more next time... and uncover the truth.
Hoping I can change the rating...
Anyway, looking at the taste of the ganjjajang and the appearance of the jjamppong, it was a little disappointing~~ that’s about it ^^;;
But I do believe the dishes will definitely be good!! I’ll go again soon!!
Thank you for reading my honest, self-paid restaurant review today as well,
I’ll keep trying to be a restaurant coordinator people always want to visit. :)
This was Baek Wonjang, a dentist who dreams of becoming a master of implants and a gourmet.
Thank you.!!
