I’m Baek Won-seon, the chief director of Lev Dental Clinic in Gangnam.

Recently, many patients have been visiting our clinic for teeth whitening.

We are becoming a hotspot for teeth whitening in Gangnam, and many people ask about the before-and-after photos, price/cost, and side effects, so I’m leaving a brief post.

I previously wrote a short post about teeth whitening, and this post is intended to cover the questions patients often ask after visiting Lev Dental Clinic in Gangnam.

How many whitening sessions are needed?

Many dental clinics advertise things like “1 session for X won” or “3 sessions for X won.”

At our clinic, we guide patients as follows:

1 session: In many cases, teeth whitening has little to no noticeable effect. (Sometimes it does work.)

2 sessions: The teeth do get brighter, but not to the maximum brightness.

3 sessions: The maximum level of brightness that can be achieved through teeth whitening.

Before teeth whitening for Kim OOO

This is a patient from our clinic. Looking at the teeth, you can see that they have a somewhat yellowish tone.

When the tooth color was measured, it came out to around A3.

You can think of it as getting brighter as it goes from A3 -> A2 -> A1.

When compared with the A3 shade, you can clearly see that the teeth have become brighter, right?

They have become about 1.5 to 2 shades brighter.

If you scroll up and down, you’ll be able to see how much brighter they became!

This is exactly the whitening effect of Lev Dental Clinic, the Gangnam teeth whitening hotspot!

Are there different types of whitening agents to choose from?

Osstem Beautis and W-gel.

The most famous product is Beautis, a product made by Osstem Implant that completes whitening in one day.

There are slightly more expensive imported products too, but in practice, Beautis has become the standard whitening product nationwide.

It is a whitening agent with several ingredients, but because it contains hydrogen peroxide, the principle is that when it is applied to the teeth and used with a dedicated light device, the teeth become brighter.

After drying the teeth, the first application of the agent releases the teeth’s protective barrier; the second application applies the agent more actively; and the third application brightens the teeth to the maximum level they can reach.

However, if you feel sensitivity before that, it is better to stop whitening.

What is W-gel?

It is a whitening agent made by a Korean company called Mediclus.

To get teeth whitening, people usually search a lot through cosmetic procedure apps.

(Our clinic is also listed on all of those apps!)

If you look at various clinics featured on apps such as Gangnam Unnie, Babitalk, God’s Ticket, and Modoodoc, you’ll see that some of them use W-gel.

Because the material cost is lower, it is used by places that offer whitening at lower prices. But since consumers usually don’t know what whitening agent is being used... they end up choosing a cheaper clinic and getting whitening with W-gel.

If you ask, “What exactly is the difference between Osstem Beautis and W-gel?”, there probably isn’t a clinic that can say with certainty that this is the exact difference.

From my clinical experience, Beautis is optimized for three whitening sessions per day, and because Osstem created the “Beautis Light” light device to match it, it seems to be less irritating to the teeth.

And even when the brightness level is the same, it seems to brighten in a more radiant way.

However, this is a very subjective opinion, so please use it only as a reference ^^;;

How often should teeth whitening be done?

Every 6 months to 1 year!

This was a patient who had received teeth whitening before.

Even after whitening, the color eventually returns.

In theory, we explain that it returns in about 6 months to 1 year.

So this patient came back five months after the last whitening session.

After using Osstem Beautis 3 times, the teeth definitely looked brighter!

They even appear brighter than the A2 shade on the shade guide.

But you can see some points that look a little darker here and there, right?

Just like resistance developing over time, the more whitening you do, the less bright the result becomes, and the intervals get shorter...

In the end, the conclusion is that the way to have permanently bright and aligned teeth is no-prep laminate veneers...

Why is Lev Dental Clinic in Gangnam a hotspot for teeth whitening?

In addition, our clinic is open Monday through Saturday, as well as on Sundays and public holidays, which is a big advantage because working adults can receive teeth whitening on their days off too!! It’s a clinic where whitening is also available during long holiday periods.

Are there any side effects of teeth whitening?

Although we have treated many patients with teeth whitening, there have actually been no noteworthy side effects.

When getting teeth whitening, the teeth may feel a bit sensitive. And they may hurt a little.

Usually, these are temporary symptoms, and taking something like Tylenol is enough to relieve them!!

Other than that, there are no special side effects, but if the teeth exposed to the whitening agent have cavities or severe wear, the pain may be worse. So please remember that you must get a diagnosis from a dentist before starting teeth whitening.

After teeth whitening for Choi OOO

You can also see that this patient’s teeth became quite a bit brighter after 3 whitening sessions.

(To show a clearly noticeable effect like this in a post, three whitening sessions in one day are almost essential! ..)

This patient used W-gel, and as you may notice, it seems to have a slightly less radiant feel.

It is not clearly distinguishable inside the mouth, but compared with other people’s photos, you can tell that it shows a bit...

Still, it delivers sufficiently good performance!!

After seeing many patients undergoing laminate veneer treatment, one thing I’ve realized is that the desire for beauty exists in everyone.

As various cosmetic treatments such as double eyelid surgery, nose surgery, lifting, and Botox are becoming more common, teeth whitening—which beautifully improves the “smile” that determines a face’s impression—can now be said to be an essential step for becoming more attractive.

Teeth whitening must be done regularly to maintain a bright tone. If you undergo the procedure within 6 months, you will likely be able to maintain it without much toning down.

However, you should understand that the interval becomes shorter as you repeat teeth whitening over time. So in the end, this often leads to laminate veneer treatment.

Fortunately, no-prep or very minimally prepped laminate veneers are now so common in Gangnam that many people are receiving treatment without losing tooth structure. If you get laminate veneers, you no longer need further teeth whitening, so that can be seen as a major advantage.
