Hello?
I’m Dr. Baek Won-seon, the chief director of the dental clinic at Sinsa Station.
In the previous post, I was introducing the lineup of laminates at our Lev Dental Clinic (hereafter referred to as Levinate).
The most basic Levinate Basic - characterized by its monotone bright color and neat shape.
And Levinate Expert, which adds more naturalness - with special coloring and porcelain layering, it pursues beauty in a more natural way.
This time, I’ll introduce the pinnacle of our laminate fabrication technology at Lev Dental Clinic near Sinsa Station: Levinate Master.
'Levinate Master' is a treatment recommended when only one or a few teeth need laminates, or when treatment that is very close to no-prep laminate is needed.
It’s also the choice when outstanding color reproduction is required.

No-prep laminate
Levinate Master (vs Basic)

These laminates are the 'Levinate Basic' laminates I introduced last time.
As mentioned, I recommend them for people who want the impression of having white teeth with a uniform color.
Because the color is relatively uniform, processing time is short, so they are also suitable for one-day Levinate.
However, they tend to have a bit less naturalness and a slightly more artificial look.
(This, too, is entirely a matter of taste.)

In contrast, 'Levinate Master,' which has to be crafted one by one, has a completely different production process from the start.
While Levinate Basic and Expert are mainly made using the CAD-CAM method (where a machine mills a block to manufacture them),
Levinate Master is a work of art made by a dedicated ceramist, one space at a time, using porcelain powder.
The production time is much longer, and the materials used are more expensive, but
it boasts an extremely thin thickness close to 0.1 mm, and because it is truly a handmade laminate, it has the special advantage of fitting very well. It is also like a single work of art—a painting-like piece—and can create a variety of natural colors.
The laminate shown above is not staining; it is a back-illumination effect caused by differences in thickness. In reality, the appearance of the laminate changes depending on the condition of your own teeth~~
You can think of it as the most high-tech laminate currently available.
In reality, too.. there are not many dental clinics that can make this happen. Ours is made directly by a dedicated ceramist who has encountered cases from all of our patients!!! That’s why remakes are rare.
There’s a brown spot on my front tooth that bothers me, so I only want one laminate.
I’m a groom-to-be getting married in a week.

No!!! He was a male patient who was getting married the following week.
We didn’t have much time... He came in saying he wanted laminate treatment only for one front tooth that had turned especially brown.
If you look closely, you can see that the tip of the upper right front tooth has become quite discolored.
It may be a trace of early decay, or there is a possibility of enamel hypoplasia.

Enamel hypoplasia, enamel hypoplasia, enamel hypoplasia
If you actually search Google for enamel hypoplasia (enamel dysplasia, enamel developmental hypoplasia),
there are many sources saying that if enamel formation itself is impaired, it can be neatly treated with laminates.

Oddly enough, only one front tooth stood out in color.

In fact, the surrounding teeth were also slightly rotated, and the edges were chipped, so I recommended 4 or 6 laminates for symmetry. However, the patient firmly wanted laminate treatment for only one tooth.
Doing a single laminate is the most difficult case ㅠ0ㅠ

If you look at the smile, this was someone with a smile line where the corners of the mouth lift up widely, and the front teeth were especially visible.
It was obvious at a glance... I thought I would also consider laminate treatment.
Can’t you just treat the front tooth with composite resin?
Advantages and disadvantages.
Of course, you can remove the brown-looking area and fill it with resin!!

It’s a slightly unnatural shape, but the advantage of filling it with resin is, after all, that less tooth structure is removed, right?
This may come as a shock, but that’s a misconception.
To properly bond resin, a surprisingly large area of beveling is needed.

A bevel is the sloped surface created around the tooth after it has been reduced.
It increases the bonding strength by widening the contact area between the resin and the tooth, and it is an essential step for achieving natural-looking color.
So, front-tooth resin treatment actually requires more tooth reduction than people often expect.
It’s hard to say it is less than the amount of reduction needed for no-prep laminate; minimal-prep laminate.
Because resin is a porous material, discoloration of either the margins or the resin itself is guaranteed to occur over time.
Eventually, the process of re-filling and re-filling repeats......
There is great joy in having protected my precious tooth, but in the end, it becomes a situation where I can’t smile confidently with an unattractive material filled in...
It’s really a bittersweet situation like this - I’ve seen my parents go through it a lot too, and it really puts people in a difficult position.
So we decided to treat it with ceramic Levinate!
However, this time it was Levinate Master.
When you receive laminate treatment, the visible front surface of the tooth is shaved down thinly.
Based on our Sinsa Station Lev Dental Clinic standards - depending on the lineup, the amount of reduction varies from 0.6 mm to 0.1 mm.
Since this patient was a very difficult case in which the color of only one tooth had to be matched, we decided on Levinate Master.
Of course, it is the hardest to make, but the amount of tooth reduction is minimal.
Because the patient had a delicate and sharp sense, we paid very close attention while making it.

This is a photo of Levinate Master being fabricated and placed on the tooth.
It’s so thin that you can almost see through it from the back...?
Many people worry about whether it will break because it is thin, but
You know how if you wet and stick two glass plates together, they stick tightly? It’s that kind of situation, so it doesn’t actually fracture easily. In fact, that is why we’re able to perform this kind of treatment...

Before applying the adhesive and bonding it, we darken the environment a bit and take a photo to measure the tooth’s natural color.
If you weren’t told, I think you wouldn’t even know which part was the laminate..

And here is the photo after completion!!!
My first thought was simply that it was so beautiful.
Can you see from the photo how skilled our Sinsa Station Lev Dental Clinic ceramists (dental technicians) are?

If you take a photo with the lower teeth, it looks even more natural.
The patient was so pleased that he was shocked.
You could say this is the best gift for a groom-to-be, right?
Before & After

If you look at the before-and-after photos, you’ll likely feel a quite clear difference.
You can see that the area that looked brown and was suspected to be early decay or enamel dysplasia was neatly resolved with Levinate Master made of high-end ceramic material.
The reason we can match colors so precisely is that when a patient visits our Lev Dental Clinic, we match them not only with a dedicated dentist but also with the ceramist who will fabricate their laminate.

If you look at the smile photo, you can see an even more perfect result.
Can you also feel that the patient is smiling more broadly..?
It is said that from now on, the front tooth is no longer a complex but a point of confidence!!!!
Among laminate treatments, the most difficult is the single laminate case, where only one tooth is treated.
Because our clinic is really good at laminates, patients are often amazed.... but since most people have almost never experienced treatment at a clinic that is poor at laminates, I sometimes feel a little disappointed that many seem to think, "Isn’t it natural to make it this well?"
As with this groom-to-be patient, asking us to match the color of just one tooth that is significantly different in shade is truly the most difficult case.
People’s eyes are sensitive, so they can easily distinguish left-right differences and also pick up differences in texture...
It’s to the point where it’s easier to say that treating 6 or 8 teeth is simpler.
In any case, for the minimum tooth shaping and dramatic color reproduction in a single tooth,
I explained the situation in detail to the patient and worked on it with Levinate Master.

The Levinate Master lineup, made using the platinum foil technique,
is the production method for the 'no-prep laminate' promoted by many dental clinics.
There are only a few ceramists (dental technicians) who can make it, and it really does take a long time to produce.
However, its special advantages are that it allows laminate treatment with very minimal tooth reduction (or none at all), and even though it is a thin ceramic, the powder colors can be adjusted to achieve a wide variety of shades.
This was exactly the right situation for a case like this groom-to-be patient.
Anyway, I would like to express my gratitude to our Lev Dental Clinic laboratory team at Sinsa Station for creating Levinate Master with such excellent quality that it was worthy of being posted on the blog.
Really.. when it comes to laminate treatment, I strongly recommend choosing your clinic carefully. Clinics that produce laminates in-house, rather than outsourcing them to a dental lab, can deliver overwhelmingly better performance!!!
Be sure to check whether the clinic you visit makes them directly. That’s a great tip for finding a good laminate clinic!!!
Please support Levinate!
