I’m Baek Won-seon, the chief dentist at Reve Dental Clinic near Sinsa Station.

The pride of our Sinsa Station Reve Dental Clinic is definitely Revnate, made by a dedicated ceramist.

Among them, I’d like to start with a post appreciating the Revnate Masterpiece, which I’d call the real masterpiece.. Today, I’d like to show you another amazing laminate case. Usually, when people hear “laminate,” they think of a bad treatment that grinds down the front teeth and makes them small.

But there are certainly special cases where treatment is only possible with “laminate”!!!

When deciding on a treatment method, whether a tooth is decayed or not is not the only criterion. There are many invisible factors too, such as the patient’s financial situation, the time available, age, gender, and health condition.

I’m about to have an announcer interview, and I want to fill the gap between my front teeth.

I don’t have time, so orthodontic treatment isn’t possible, and I want to keep the cost to a minimum..

This patient came to our clinic to receive laminate treatment before an announcer interview. At first glance, you might think, “Well, the teeth are just a little misaligned?” (I thought so too.)

But when I looked closely, there was a tooth missing... Where is it? I wondered,

The right canine was positioned farther inward due to malocclusion, so it looked like one tooth was missing. If you only look straight from the front, it may not seem visible, but when speaking or smiling, there was a gap between the front teeth that showed very clearly..

And if you look closely, the teeth are a little protruded.. and somewhat rotated.. How should we solve this...

I recommended orthodontic treatment. Reve Dental Clinic’s Invisalign is good too~

I wanted to straighten the teeth through orthodontic treatment. As for the slightly yellowish tooth color, whitening after orthodontics would be good too.. and laminate could also be done then..

I explained everything carefully, but oh no! The announcer interview was coming up soon... Then the teeth need to be aligned and the color needs to look nice, but there isn’t enough time.......

Then let’s try treatment with 6 Revnates! Treating 12 teeth down below would give an even brighter impression.

First, since it was important to seize the opportunity of the announcer interview, we decided to recommend the best possible treatment.

To improve the alignment for an ideal bite and create a uniformly white tooth color,

6 upper and 6 lower laminates were the minimum recommended in this situation.

But...

The budget wasn’t large... so please treat just 4 for now, as a temporary measure.

A young woman said she could only afford to treat 4 teeth. She had set her budget for exactly 4 Revnates.......... and came from far away.......

We wanted to do 6 or even 8 for her, but because the unit cost of Revnates is quite high, ㅠㅠㅠ In the end, after discussion, we decided to aim for the best result with “4 Revnates”.... and that’s how the consultation ended....

Before starting, we did a thorough scaling to clean the teeth. And then we measured the tooth color.

If you look closely again, you’ll be able to see that the tooth color looks quite mottled. We had to take photos and carefully choose just 4 teeth......

Still, the central front teeth had fairly even alignment and decent shape, so we decided to create a nice result by shaping the 4 marked teeth as much as possible.

If we were to do crown treatment, the canine would have to be extracted no matter what... So because it was an important interview, we did minimally reduced laminate trimming only, and after the interview goes well,

later... when the patient can afford a bit more, we’ll make it prettier again! That’s what we said.

In the end, it was a difficult situation where the laminate had to be matched to the color and texture of the two front incisors.

In fact, when doing laminate, it’s very convenient to shave down several teeth generously and treat them. With multiple teeth, it’s easier to distribute the space and easier to unify the laminate color.

But since we had to leave the two central front teeth, which are most important for appearance, and match the other four to them exactly, I started thinking... could we really reproduce the natural texture and that colorful tone of the front teeth...? That was the tremendous task we had to face.

Director Lee San-ha and ceramist Kim Kyung-ho decided to do their very best.

The protruding teeth inevitably had to be shaved down. That way we could make the shape neat, right?

Still, because we treated it with Revnate, we were able to minimize tooth reduction compared to crowns. Let’s do our best in the current situation.

All work begins with CAD work. We measure the space between the teeth, determine how much tooth shaping is the minimum necessary, and based on that, we make the laminate as thin as possible and even make no-prep laminate possible.

Anyway, it means we live in a good world.

Just with laminate covering only the front surface, to be able to express texture and color so delicately... Even the texture I described as colorful was reproduced so precisely that it was astonishing.

Even looking at it again, all I can think is how amazing it is. Haha It really made me think, “This is a true work of art.. a masterpiece~”

What’s even more amazing is this! To close the gap that was this wide at first, the prosthetic was made like this,

which looks awkward from the side, but from the front it creates an optical illusion, making the tooth shape look very convincing.

Laminate also needs to be made by a smart ceramist to achieve a shape and design that are close to perfect. This is truly a piece created through the hard work of Director Lee San-ha and ceramist Kim Kyung-ho.

Anyway, from the front, it definitely looked different. In such a difficult situation, I think we found a natural kind of beauty very well.

It looks even more natural inside the mouth. Teeth that look long horizontally don’t show at this level of smiling. Haha The patient was truly, truly satisfied.

The spaces between the teeth were wide, and the bite differed left and right, so this was a very, very difficult laminate case. Of course, an orthodontic solution was needed, but because the patient’s announcer interview schedule was important, we had to change the treatment plan.

The canine we had been debating whether to extract was not extracted, so for now, we covered only the visible side as much as possible with laminates that had strong durability. And if there is time and financial room later, we promised to proceed with orthodontic treatment. Just by looking at it, that spot seems difficult to clean... so we also decided to provide thorough scaling regularly.

It was a case where everything was neatly arranged, and both the patient and we were satisfied and proud!

As life goes on, we encounter many different situations. At the small dental clinic inside the apartment shopping complex where I first opened my practice, when I encountered a case like this, I probably would have kept repeating, “There’s no way unless you get orthodontic treatment. Extract everything and get a bridge.”

To do crown treatment, the canine would have had to be extracted. It would be such a waste to extract a tooth with a long, healthy root....

In a situation like this, where there is no time and the options are very limited... I was glad that with the good option called “Revnate,” we could create the “beautiful front teeth” the patient wanted.
