Baek Won-jang Rating ★★★★★

Hello.

I’m Baek Won-jang from Leve Dental Clinic at Sinsa Station.

It had been a while since I went for sushi omakase. It was for my birthday... And it’s no secret that I went again today.! I’ll share the review ^^ lol

The sushi omakase I want to introduce today is so popular that it’s really hard to visit.

A one-chef sushi restaurant where the chef manages everything from A to Z. It’s a place with a very high level of reservation difficulty on Catch Table. I did it.

It’s a lunch sushi omakase for 70,000 won, but the quality is even better than places that cost well over 100,000 won.

Sushi Ezen

It’s close to both Yongsan Station and Sinyongsan Station, so it’s a place Yongsan-gu residents should definitely visit. If you haven’t seen it yet, check out my post and give the reservation a try... I got through a 100-to-1 reservation battle for the lunch sushi omakase. haha

Location: Room 247, B2, 95 Hangang-daero, Yongsan-gu, Seoul

Parking: 2 hours of free parking available

It is located on the second basement floor of Building B at Raemian Yongsan The Central.

It’s harder to find than expected.. so please arrive a little earlier than your reservation time. The lunch omakase starts exactly at 12:00 PM. They will wait a little even if you’re a bit late, but you’re not the only one there..

Anyway, since I found it well, I should take a commemorative photo, right? haha My wife and I went together! My birthday had already passed by one day, but we still had to celebrate~ It was my day off on Friday, so we quickly went for lunch.

A sneaky shot when the chef turned around.. There aren’t many seats. There are only 8 counter seats in total. When I went, there were 4 groups of 2 people each.

There is only one lunch session, and it’s the kind of place where one sushi chef takes care of everything from A to Z!

I liked the feeling of green, yellow, and blue coexisting together. I came to enjoy sushi omakase after a long time, and the neatly arranged spoons and wet towel looked nice.

There was wasabi and salt prepared... (the wasabi is continuously made fresh on the spot.) A pleasantly sweet and refreshing-tasting wasabi. The pickled ginger was also quite fresh.

The first dish is chawanmushi.

What stood out was that fresh oysters were cooked and placed on top as two pieces, and the inside of the egg custard had little bits of cheese mixed in. My wife can’t eat oysters, so I ended up eating three of them. Full of ocean freshness! It was my first time seeing cheese inside egg custard, and it was delicious. I like cheese. haha

Winter yellowtail

I expected yellowtail to appear in season, and sure enough!.. They gave us three pieces of beautifully colored sashimi. I put plenty of wasabi on top, dipped it lightly in salt, and had it in one bite.

It was nutty and melted softly in my mouth, so delicious. There aren’t many people who don’t like yellowtail in winter, right? haha

Red sea bream sushi

Usually this comes out as the second item. Still, I was grateful there was no flatfish.. and welcomed the more delicious red sea bream sushi.

It was the first piece of sushi, so I slowly chewed and savored the shari, and it was seasoned quite nicely. I like when the grains feel a little separate, and this was my style.! The neta wasn’t thick, but it was a good start. Aged sashimi is also my style~

Striped jack sushi

Is it called shima aji? It’s one of the must-have items in Korean lunch omakase. Usually it had a somewhat rough texture, but the one I had today was smooth and had a nutty flavor. Interestingly, even though it was clearly the same wasabi, it had a pretty sharp kick. Good~

Jeju cuttlefish sushi

You can’t skip cuttlefish sushi at lunch omakase. If I’m going to eat it anyway, I wanted one with a thick, chewy bite, and it was exactly what I wanted.

The firm texture was impressive, and it had a satisfying chew.

Milt

A rare item. I was told it can only be eaten in winter. Shirako (!) has a creamy, nutty texture that is very appealing. As I was enthusiastically taking photos, I felt good because it seemed like they picked a pretty piece for me... hehe

Yellowtail belly sushi

I had already had three pieces of yellowtail at the start, and this time they gave me yellowtail belly. It should be even fattier, right? It was overflowing with nuttiness and had a texture that melted in my mouth. It was delicious enough to be memorable.

Sweet shrimp sushi

I’ve never seen sweet shrimp this big before. One piece with two large sweet shrimp on top that were so appetizing even people who don’t take photos would want to.

Personally, the sweetness was a bit less intense than I expected, but the chewy and slightly sticky texture is always pleasant. The unique nuttiness of shrimp~

Tuna lean meat sushi

This is also called akami, right? Tuna lean meat sushi came out seasoned. Even though this is a 70,000-won lunch sushi omakase and is clearly a Yongsan Station restaurant, they would definitely be using frozen tuna, but the taste... it felt like they could defrost frozen tuna this well? It somehow gave the impression of the chewy texture of fresh tuna.

At this level, it’s more than excellent..

Miso soup comes out. Since tuna is fatty, the timing was just right.

Otoro sushi

This is the tuna belly sushi. I think this is the one where you feel the biggest difference in texture between frozen and fresh tuna.. Still, the moment it hit my mouth, the melting sensation was well expressed. In Korea, and especially at a lunch omakase, this much is truly appreciated..

Maybe the star of today? The famous fried shrimp. Rice is placed on dried seaweed, and then this big fried shrimp is placed right on top! Since you end up eating while bits of scallion fall off... you have to be careful and eat it neatly. haha It tastes good, very good~ It wasn’t bland.

Mackerel pressed sushi

The mackerel was filleted and the rice was really tightly packed when they made it. It had a mild nutty flavor and wasn’t fishy. As you eat it, there’s some sweet thing inside that seems to balance the seasoning?

Great, great.

Conger eel sushi

We’re almost at the end~ Since I was taking photos, I think they gave me an especially beautiful piece. haha Conger eel sushi grilled as is and placed on rice without sauce. Personally, I think it would be better with a bit more sauce... but the taste of the grilled eel itself was also good.

A little somen noodles, then slurp the broth

Now the end is in sight. A sneaky shot while they were making the futomaki. haha

A futomaki filled with cucumber!

It has its own visual appeal....^^ The cucumber’s crunchy texture and refreshing coolness are excellent. It’s been a while since I had sushi omakase, and for some reason my heart feels full. .

The final item is vanilla ice cream topped with sesame oil.

I liked this unusual combination more than I expected. Why didn’t I think of this before..? Vanilla ice cream and sesame oil go surprisingly well together. With that, this journey of over an hour came to an end..... I was happy....

I ate really, really well again today.!!!

Conclusion

It would be rude to call this a value-for-money restaurant. It’s simply a great sushi omakase restaurant near Yongsan Station. Personally... I don’t like calling places value-for-money restaurants. As someone who treats patients and performs implant surgery myself, hearing “I placed the implant really well at a good value” doesn’t feel very good.....

Whether I charge a little less is up to me, but in any case, it’s because I put effort into each and every thing. So even if the chef doesn’t see it, I don’t want to call it a value-for-money restaurant.

When sushi omakase costs 70,000 won and they serve ingredients this carefully prepared and this much food, I think it should just be called a top-tier lunch sushi omakase restaurant. I enjoyed sushi omakase after a long time, and I understood why the Catch Table reservation is so hard to get. Personally, I think they could charge a bit more.....

It would be wonderful if the restaurant thrives and adds more counter seats. haha

[Yongsan Station Restaurant] Sushi Ezen - A Lunch Sushi Omakase That Goes Beyond Value for Money and Delivers Care and Flavor. Catch Table Reservation Review. image 32 A great sushi omakase restaurant near Yongsan Station? No, it’s just a great restaurant near Yongsan Station! I made a reservation as soon as I saw a cancellation notification at 10:56 PM on Catch Table, and it was absolutely worth it. haha If you get the chance, try making a reservation on a weekday. It seems like a place where you’ll be satisfied for sure.

There are many places that serve sushi omakase in a formulaic way, but this is a place where the chef is trying to create at least one distinct point of difference. I ate well and enjoyed it. ^^

Thank you for reading my personally paid restaurant review again today,

I’ll do my best to become a memorable restaurant coordinator with carefully selected posts. :)

This was Baek Won-jang, a dentist who dreams of becoming a master of implants and a gourmet. Thank you.!!
