I’m Baek Won-jang from Dream Dental Clinic, Rev Dental Clinic.

Recently, I visited a Chinese restaurant near Sadang Station introduced by my wife, and I’d like to share it with you.

We went because we heard the lamb skewers and lamb ribs were delicious. It’s run by Chinese people, and after trying it, I found that the Chinese dishes were really, really delicious—an authentic, truly great restaurant.

The prices are excellent too...

Location: 68-22 Namhyeon 1-gil, Gwanak-gu, Seoul

Parking: Not available. Use a nearby public parking lot.

I heard this was a restaurant that Chinese students at Seoul National University genuinely love.

It’s located within easy walking distance from Exit 4 of Sadang Station on Line 4.

Since it’s a very local spot, parking is not available, so please use a nearby public parking lot.

You can use the underground public parking lot at Namhyeon Sogongwon.

Most nearby parking lots charge around 5,000 KRW per hour, so parking here would be a reasonable choice.

There may also be discounts for families with multiple children, people of merit, and others!

Exterior

It’s been so long since I last visited a Chinese restaurant that feels this much like mainland China. Haha.

It’s written in Chinese as Hong Taeyang Lamb Skewers.

The flashy exterior makes it impossible to miss.

There’s a Bokdoni Chives Pork Belly restaurant nearby, so if you know that place, it should be easy to find.

Interior

Looks like any other restaurant in Korea, right? Haha.

It opens at 2:00 PM, and we visited at exactly 2:00 PM. Naturally, we were the first customers~

Sadang Station restaurant. This is the menu at Hong Taeyang Lamb Skewers.

Since it had been a while since we came to this great spot, we ordered quite a lot (!)

As a basic order, one lamb skewer and one lamb rib,

we also ordered guobaorou, jisamseon, hot noodle soup, egg fried rice, and one zero cola!

Meal starts!!!

Honestly, there’s nothing particularly special about the basic setup. Haha.

You know the powder on the right, right? You just coat the lamb skewers generously with it and eat them. Haha.

A neat setup. The Korean letters on the bottom of the bowls feel a bit out of place...... haha.

Lamb skewers (10 pieces 15,000 KRW) Lamb ribs (250g 25,000 KRW)

The square, diced-looking one on the left is the lamb skewer. The differently shaped one on the right is the lamb rib. You can tell them apart at a glance, right? Haha.

You grill them on this great fire and eat them right away.

The middle cooks first, and the edges cook more slowly. The skewers are magnetic, so they cook nicely on their own.

And here they are.

They look different, and they taste different too!

It was delicious lamb with the distinctive aroma of lamb packed in.

It was really delicious. The flavor was so full of savory richness, haha.

Hot noodle soup (7,000 KRW)

The second star is the hot noodle soup.

As you probably know, these are hot noodles made with corn starch! The noodles were incredibly chewy and smooth.

The broth was milder than expected and not too strong. It had a subtly restorative, hangover-soothing kind of taste.

Guobaorou (18,000 KRW)

One of today’s stars: guobaorou!

First of all, I was surprised by how much there was. The fried quality also looked really good.

I lifted the meat with tongs and cut it with scissors, and it was unbelievably crispy.

As you can see from the cross-section, there was moist sticky rice flour batter and well-cooked pink pork.

The sauce is poured over it, but it’s thick, subtly sweet, and doesn’t taste cheap.

It isn’t overly sour, but the vinegar flavor feels like it comes through from deep within.

It was really delicious guobaorou. The overall feel was completely different from what I’d had in Korea!!!

Jisamseon (16,000 KRW)

Jisamseon is made by frying eggplant and coating it with a sweet sauce.

Personally, I’ve never had a better jisamseon than this one.

The Palled Shin I had recently was not jisamseon...

It was a truly, really delicious dish that showed me what crispy outside and moist inside really means.

I took this photo because I wanted to capture that look, but it was harder to capture than I expected? Haha.

The crisp surface and the moist flesh of the eggplant inside are absolutely perfect.

Even now, the dish I want to eat again most is the jisamseon!!

Egg fried rice (8,000 KRW)

It’s hard to believe this egg fried rice costs only 8,000 KRW.

Think of it as nearly two servings...

When else am I going to get to eat fried rice cooked this thoroughly again..

It feels like every grain of rice was stir-fried! Please try this at some point too...

Chef, are your shoulders okay? I’m someone whose shoulders hurt, so...ㅠㅠ I’m worried.

We really, really enjoyed our meal today.!!!

Conclusion

Such delicious lamb skewers, lamb ribs, jisamseon, and guobaorou.... Wow...

Personally, at first I didn’t really want to go.

It was too far from home, there are so many good Chinese restaurants, and I didn’t really trust it...

But after eating it, I changed my mind.... If I had known it would be this good, I would have come much earlier.

Both the basic lamb skewers and lamb ribs are exceptionally delicious. They strongly capture the distinctive aroma of lamb, which was exactly my style.

And the classic Chinese dishes were also really, really delicious. Personally, I liked them much more than Hyehwa Lamb and Leg Restaurant.

It wasn’t just made to be intensely stimulating; it’s amazing how they achieve this level of quality through the natural flavor of the ingredients....

On top of that, the prices are incredibly reasonable and the portions are generous too... so if I have a gathering, I feel like I should go there all the time.

For me, this is currently the number one lamb skewer restaurant. Thanks to it, I’ve also caught the lamb skewer bug enough that I’m curious how delicious the number one lamb skewer my wife kept singing about every day could possibly be. Haha.
