[Mandapa Ritz-Carlton Reserve Part 4] KUBU - One of Ubud’s Top Fine Dining Spots. A Quick Look.

Hello.

I’m Baek, the director of Leve Dental Clinic, a sacred spot for teeth whitening near Sinsa Station.

This is the final introduction to Mandapa Ritz-Carlton Reserve, after racing through it all!!

Part 4. Introducing the KUBU restaurant.

This place became famous after being listed in the Michelin Guide.. think of it as Balinese food fine dining.

KUBU

This map appears beside the Ayung River!!

It’s a place that creates fine dining dishes using ingredients brought in from all over Bali.

The standing sign with KUBU written on it is charming.

The colors are so pretty~ haha

(If I were her, I’d be happy living with me too~)

As you enter, a special space unfolds, as if a hut is inside another hut.

The stones laid on the floor and the acorn-like hut are unique and pretty, aren’t they..? haha

It’s an attractive place for quietly gazing at the Ayung River.

This is the menu showing the order of the courses.

Honestly... it’s in English, but even reading it didn’t give me a clear sense of what was coming. ㅠㅠ

What’s the point of writing Japanese in English as-is... well, it just felt like that...

I remember the price being in the high 100,000 won range, but price aside.. even when the staff explained things in English, there were so many place names and words we didn’t know that it was a little disappointing that we couldn’t really grasp what ingredients were being used. ㅠㅠ

If you choose it, you can also enjoy paired wine or other alcohol.

On the left is the welcome drink, and on the right are one cocktail and one fruit juice that we ordered ^^

I don’t remember clearly, but if you overlap thin paper and regular paper, KUBU’s location is marked on it!?

Anyway, it gave off the feeling of “we brought good ingredients from all over!”

BEDUGAL ROOTS

These will probably be among the meals with the best visual presentation you can find in Bali.

I heard people even come from outside just to visit KUBU.

At a glance, it was served with various vegetables and a sweet-and-tangy dressing.

There’s already the joy of eating with your eyes from the first plate!

UBUD SHRUBS

A menu item with Ubud in the name... and something like a bird’s nest came with it haha

You wrap it up like this and eat it...

It would be good to describe it as a laver cracker. lol They said it contains avocado and hibiscus, but it’s not really the kind of food Koreans usually eat, so... haha

But it is tasty!! And fun to look at.

SERANGAN CRAB

Crab meat served with berries.

But that wasn’t all...

They also add a beautifully colored sauce.

You eat a bit of the crab, the sauce, and the berries together!!!

This was my favorite. Crab meat and berries together~ haha

BALI COMMUNITY FISHERY

This is a grilled fish dish, and it’s served with vegetables said to be used as herbs.

This time, the accompanying sauce is green!

It helps make the delicious grilled fish even better. haha

The next dish seems to be something related to beans...

The various beans they showed us must have been the ingredients for the next dish.

I didn’t fully understand it, but it was fascinating. So many kinds of beans!@!

PATANGAN BEANS

A dish made from the beans shown earlier. The dressing is generously poured on top.

It was fun to take part in pouring the sauce myself.

That’s one of the charms of Balinese fine dining. lol

JAVA ORGANIC BEEF

The sun sets, the steak comes out, and the sound of the river flowing passes by your ears.

I usually don’t have high expectations for steak in Southeast Asia..

Here, it was simply delicious ^^

A delicious steak meal that breaks my prejudice!!!

TABANAN SEASONAL FRUIT

As we neared the end, we were served seasonal fruit.

They even cut it into small pieces,

I quickly ate it in one bite, sweet and tangy~

KINTAMANI MARKISA

The final dessert was made with passion fruit, banana, and milk.

Seeing it again, the tartness of the passion fruit still makes my mouth water....ㅎㅎ

KUBU MIGNARDISE

The ending was wrapped up with small bite-sized sweets you can pick up by hand!!

It was a fine dining meal with lots to see and many unique ingredients!!

Since this was written almost five months after my visit last November, my memory of the taste was honestly not very clear.

Going back over the KakaoTalk messages I wrote for myself...

I’ll wrap up this post about KUBU, said to be one of the best restaurants in Bali and Ubud.

Personally, because Korea has so many delicious foods, it may not feel as special as expected.

But considering the quality of food in Bali, there really isn’t a meal this high in quality there.
