This is Baek Wonjang’s Food Michelin.

I don’t post every time I go, but one place I visit from time to time is Park Hyatt Seoul.

Among its offerings, I really liked the Korean food at The Lounge on the 24th floor,

I liked it so much that I sometimes went there with my wife, and other times brought my family.

Every time, what we ordered was the braised tilefish I posted about last time.

But this time, the braised tilefish had been renewed? It was a somewhat disappointing visit..

Location: 24th floor, Park Hyatt Seoul, 606 Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul

Parking: Valet available.

At Park Hyatt Seoul, many people apparently valet their cars at the lobby and go somewhere else, so they escort you very courteously (!) by elevator from the first floor. So you can’t go anywhere else...

And when you receive the valet card, they say parking is 10,000 won if you use the venue, but I think that applies to people who do not have a valet partnership credit card. Venue use + partnership card holders can use it for free. (They do not check whether you used the venue.)

I visited for the first time in a few months, and my wife was in a good mood and asked me to take a photo, so click!

The interior hasn’t changed over time.. haha

It seems there is a different concept each season, so the tone and manner change slightly from time to time.

Interior

Even though we just walked in, fortunately there was a seat.

The last time I went to Timber House, I also went as a walk-in, but there were no seats, so we ended up going to Timber House..

This is the Coex view, with construction in full swing.

Still a beautiful menu.

They said it had been slightly renewed.

If I remember correctly (!) the prices seem to have gone up a bit. The braised tilefish didn’t used to be as much as 50,000 won..

And it feels like the number of contemporary Korean dishes has been reduced.

And they said it had been renewed in a somewhat French direction.

I ordered the braised tilefish, and my wife ordered the grilled Hanwoo skirt steak.

Meal start!!!

These vegetables are always served first.

I feel like they are now a signature of Park Hyatt Seoul The Lounge. haha

There’s something tasty about taking them out one by one and dipping them in perilla seed sauce.

The table setting was prepared faster than I expected.

In the past, they used to serve each person’s portion on a tray, but now they said they changed it to a style where they simply lay down cloth and place the side dishes on top. They said they wanted to bring out more of a French feel.

Braised tilefish (51,000 won)

Honestly, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say we came just to eat this, right?

Two large pieces of tilefish sit on top of braised radish, with thinly sliced mushrooms gently placed on top.

Oh.. the visual looks better!?

What was interesting is that, since they said it had been revamped into a French style, they poured the sauce separately(!).

You know how at fine dining restaurants they sometimes plate the sauce around the outside?

In my mind.. I was thinking, wait, isn’t braised food supposed to come with broth as part of it? What is this!?

But as long as it tastes good, I’m fine with it..

Grilled Hanwoo skirt steak (51,000 won)

This is the grilled Hanwoo skirt steak, also priced at the same amount.

They cut the large piece of skirt steak into smaller pieces.

Interestingly, they came and shaved truffle on top of this.

Hmm~ that’s a little unusual.

Rice and seaweed soup.

And the other side dishes included aged kimchi, seasoned vegetables, and salted seafood.

We should taste it, right?

Oh, the braised tilefish has somehow been nerfed...

The old braised tilefish I used to eat had a wonderfully moist and fluffy texture.....ㅠㅠ

It has become a bit drier, and the texture has become slightly firmer...

That aside, the mushrooms on top were way too sour (!)

Personally, I didn’t think they went well together........

That’s disappointing....

The Hanwoo skirt steak didn’t taste bad, but it also wasn’t the kind of quality worth paying 50,000 won for.

I felt disappointed again because I think the previously eaten short rib dish was tastier.

Still, the rice and seaweed soup were pretty good.

But as before, the portions were a little small.. and after eating, we went to get dessert too, not gonna lie..

I enjoyed it today.

Conclusion

The old braised tilefish is gone now..

I visited Park Hyatt Seoul The Lounge for the first time in a while.

We walked in and were happy to get a seat right away!!! But..

The braised tilefish I had eaten several times is gone now.. and only the nerfed version remains.

Before, it was truly a dish full of the rich umami that felt like the essence of Korean food, so I’m disappointed....

And the number of Korean dishes has been greatly reduced. It seems they are trying to focus more on French cuisine.

It used to be one of the few hotel lounges that made Korean food well, so I’m left feeling disappointed..

Facilities: ★★★★★

Parking: Free valet possible with a credit card. (Once every 3 hours)

Anyway, because I was disappointed, I did mention briefly (!) that the one I had before was delicious before leaving.

If that braised tilefish ever comes back... I’ll go eat it with real joy.

The total was 102,000 won, and I got a 10% discount using Hyundai Platinum Club.

I also earned about 250 World of Hyatt points, and valet parking could be processed with the same card.

Clean facilities, a good view, and kind staff were all nice, but the food changed, so this was a slightly disappointing review...
