Hello, this is Seoul Invisalign Dental Clinic.
Today, I’ll talk about canine alignment treatment.
This is a case treated with Invisalign Lite.
It would be good if you read this with the point in mind that even this degree of protruding canine alignment can be treated with short-term Invisalign Lite orthodontics.

This is an elementary school student who came in for canine alignment treatment.
You can see a deep bite where the front teeth bite down too far, and the front teeth are significantly rotated.
Invisalign Lite has 14 aligners.
The amount of rotation possible for the rotated front teeth is limited.
Within those 14 limited aligners, and within a limited treatment period of one year, all malocclusion must be corrected.
For this reason, Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment where experience and know-how matter.
The reason I can confidently say that Invisalign Lite is possible even for this degree of protruding canine alignment is because
I have extensive experience treating even more severe cases with Invisalign Lite.
If this had been an adult, Invisalign Comprehensive rather than Invisalign Lite might have been needed, but considering the patient’s age,
I expected tooth movement to be faster than in adults, so I recommended Invisalign Lite.

23.11
This photo was taken after wearing all 14 aligners over 8 months, from April 2023 to November 2023.
The protruding canine alignment improved a lot, but the midline is still off.

If you look back at the treatment plan simulation established at the beginning, it shows that the treatment would end with the midline aligned.
Sometimes, if tooth movement is not perfect like in a ClinCheck video, people may misunderstand and blame the aligners or the clinic.
If tooth movement were error-free like the ClinCheck simulation, self-orthodontic treatment would be possible.
But the periodontal tissue inside the mouth and the teeth are not a computer.
They are living tissues. Each person responds differently to orthodontic force.
Therefore, treatment methods also differ, and the doctor’s intervention is essential throughout the process.
The more experience the doctor has with Invisalign treatment, the better they understand that each person is different and that Invisalign aligners are applied differently depending on the malocclusion, allowing them to provide appropriate care.

23.11
If you look at the photo after wearing all 14 stages, the protruding canine area marked by the blue arrow has still not fully returned to its original position.
This was intentional from the start.

If you look at the ClinCheck, you can see that the treatment plan originally intended to rotate the protruding canine by only 80%.
That is because Invisalign Lite can only improve malocclusion within the range allowed by 14 stages.
The remaining 20% of rotation can be strategically handled with additional aligners.
In this way, there is no need to start with the more expensive Invisalign Comprehensive treatment, and a 100% improvement is still possible.
To further improve front tooth rotation and detailed areas, an oral scan is taken and additional aligners are fabricated.

23.11
During the fabrication period for the additional aligners, there is about a one-month break before wearing them.

24.02
And the treatment was completed last month.
The deep bite and protruding canine alignment were neatly corrected.

24.02
A fixed wire retainer was also attached so that the protruding canine alignment would not relapse, and regular checkups are being done.

If the patient had come only 5 years later, I may not have been able to confidently recommend Invisalign Lite.
The protruding canine alignment was fairly severe for Invisalign Lite to handle, and adults do not have tooth movement as fast as elementary school students.
Thanks to the patient visiting at the right time, treatment was completed quickly and simply in 9 months.
For children’s orthodontics, timing is important.
