Hello.
Today, I’ll share a review of nonsurgical, non-extraction orthodontic treatment for a protruding jaw in my 30s.
A man in his 30s visited in July 2023 to correct an anterior crossbite through orthodontic treatment

Although it is not very visible because it is covered by the lower teeth,

the wear on the front teeth is quite severe.
Because he had lived with the crossbite for a long time, the areas that contacted the lower teeth had worn down.
Looking at the degree of wear, you can see that the bite force is also quite strong.

We decided to resolve the anterior crossbite by pushing the entire lower dental arch back into the wisdom tooth space without extracting any teeth.
He chose Clippy-C, and treatment began after first attaching the lower appliance.
The upper appliance was attached four months after the lower appliance was attached.

Mini-screws were placed in the lower jaw, and the entire dental arch is being pushed toward the wisdom tooth space.
The upper teeth, which had been hidden and not visible, finally came into view.

To adjust the bite, rubber bands were also used, and in April 2025, treatment ended 1 year and 9 months after it began.

The midline is well aligned.

The molar bite is good.

It also shows the wire retainer attached.

The anterior crossbite, where the front teeth bit in reverse, has been resolved.

The change in facial appearance is noticeable.
Orthodontic treatment alone does not move the lower jaw backward, but when the anterior crossbite is corrected, the lower front teeth move back, and the lower lip also moves back.
As a result, in some cases the jaw may appear more prominent, but as lip balance improves, the protruding jaw may actually appear less pronounced.

25.04
There is no root resorption, and root parallelism is good.
An anterior crossbite can cause the lower jaw to come forward even more when biting.
In such cases, orthodontic treatment alone allows the jaw to return to its proper position and move back slightly.
As can be seen from the superimposed X-rays.
I hope today’s post is helpful for those who are considering nonsurgical, non-extraction protruding-jaw orthodontic treatment.
