Today, let’s talk about orthodontic treatment in your 50s.

Invisalign clear aligners have several programs depending on the difficulty level, that is, the treatment period.

In other words, the cost is set differently depending on the difficulty of treatment.

Mild malocclusions that can be resolved within 7 aligners: Invisalign Express Malocclusions that can be resolved within 14 aligners: Invisalign Lite Malocclusions that can be resolved within 26 aligners: Invisalign Moderate More comprehensive treatment beyond that is done with Invisalign Comprehensive, which has no limit on the number of aligners.

I have previously written many posts about Invisalign Lite cases. So you may be wondering when Invisalign Express is actually used.

Today, let’s look at a case treated with Invisalign Express.

In February 2025, a patient visited for orthodontic treatment. They came in because the gap between the upper front teeth was gradually widening, and the lower front teeth were gradually becoming misaligned.

The resin treatment was done very neatly and flawlessly.

As everyone gets older, the lower front teeth gradually become misaligned.

This happens because the bone supporting the front teeth becomes weaker, and because the bite force acting over time pushes the molars forward.

It is best to realign them once the misalignment is still minor.

The gap is bigger than you might expect, right?

But for a gap and misalignment of this degree, Invisalign Express is appropriate.

The period for wearing the 7 aligners allowed in Invisalign Express is two months if you replace one every week. There is one chance for remaking the aligners, so including that, the total treatment period is considered to be six months.

After wearing all the aligners for two months, from February to April:

The large gap between the teeth has disappeared, and the protrusion of the front teeth has improved.

However, small spaces remain between the front teeth, enough for floss to slide in loosely.

Remaking is needed.

The lower front teeth were already aligned neatly.

The aligners were remade, and during the one month while waiting for the additional aligners, the patient wore the final set of 7 aligners only while sleeping to maintain the alignment.

After wearing all 7 additional aligners from May to July 2025, the treatment was completed.

The molar bite, which had been good from the beginning, was well maintained.

Overbite can be improved with Invisalign Express.

As the front teeth bite less deeply, the lower front teeth that were previously hidden by the upper teeth are now visible by more than half.

The gap that had been filled with resin was completely eliminated through orthodontic treatment.

At the moment, we are waiting for delivery after making a Vivera retainer. Among various retainers such as Vivera and SureSmile, for cases where overbite has been improved, we recommend a Vivera retainer for thorough prevention of relapse.
