Study Abroad Student Orthodontics: Invisalign Lite Treatment Period of 5 Months

Today, I’ll talk again about a study abroad student’s orthodontic treatment using Invisalign Lite.

I’ll show you a case in which we made the aligners during winter break, continued treatment overseas during the school term, and then finished it in the summer break without having to remake them, completing treatment in just 5 months.

This patient came in early this year for orthodontic treatment.

Because the patient is a student studying abroad, it was only possible to visit once in the summer and once in the winter.

In particular, the lower front teeth were very crowded, and the premolars were tipped inward.

However, the molar bite relationship was good at Class I, and the type of malocclusion did not involve much tooth rotation. It was a mild malocclusion that could be treated within 14 aligners, so I recommended Invisalign Lite.

The patient first visited in February 2025, then waited one month for the aligners to be made, returned in March, tried on the first set of aligners, had all attachments bonded, and then left the country.

After wearing all 14 Invisalign Lite aligners overseas, changing them every week for 4 months, the patient returned during summer break.

There are some areas where the molar bite is slightly open.

The alignment of the front teeth has improved.

With Invisalign Lite, if there are any insufficiently corrected areas, one additional set of aligners can be made, but in many cases treatment is completed without additional aligners.

In this case as well, it was possible to finish without remaking additional aligners.

After about a one-month period of bite stabilization, treatment was completed in August.

The bite is perfectly sealed.

Now let’s look at the before-and-after comparison.

The total treatment period was 5 months, from March to July.

The improvement in the alignment of the lower front teeth is dramatic. The inwardly tipped premolars are also well aligned.

After orthodontic treatment, you can see that the heights of the gum line around the lower front teeth have become naturally even.

When tooth heights are adjusted through orthodontic treatment, the gum line naturally becomes even.
