Invisalign Treatment Period of 1 Year for Open Bite, Crowding, Deep Bite, Crossbite, and Midline Deviation

We will look at a case that may seem somewhat complex, with open bite, crowding, deep bite, crossbite, and midline deviation, but was completed faster than expected because the patient wore the aligners well.

We expected the treatment period to be 1 year and 6 months, but thanks to the patient wearing the appliances well, it was completed in 1 year.

This is the patient who came for orthodontic treatment one year ago.

What the patient wanted to correct was crowding.

Canine and premolar crowding are visible, and there is also a crossbite where the premolar bites in reverse.

The front tooth midline is off by about 2 mm.

There is also a deep bite, where the upper front teeth cover the lower front teeth too much.

The teeth that protrude from the alignment due to crowding have receding gums.

Fortunately, the molar bite is in relatively good condition.

The midline is shifted toward the crowded side. When the midline is rotated, skeletal asymmetry can appear as asymmetry.

At a previous orthodontic consultation at another clinic, the patient was also diagnosed with protrusive upper front teeth.

We decided to correct the open bite, crowding, deep bite, crossbite, and midline deviation with Invisalign.

From August 2024 to April 2025, after wearing all 31 aligners, this is the result.

While wearing the 31 aligners, there were 3 intermediate visits.

Because the patient cooperated well, after that we saw the patient at 3-month intervals.

The midline has been corrected, the deep bite has been resolved, and the lower front teeth show improved axial inclination.

The crowding has been aligned, and the crossbite has also been resolved.

The arrangement of the lower front teeth is still a little disappointing.

To correct this part, we proceeded with remaking the aligners.

From May 2025 to August 2025, after wearing all 16 additional aligners for 4 months, the treatment was completed.

The total treatment period was 1 year, and one remaking was done.

If the bite is not sealed tightly, we do not finish the treatment.

During the 1-year treatment period, there was no root resorption, and root parallelism is good.
