Hello.
This is Apgujeong Orthodontic Clinic.
Today, we’ll talk about a simple front-teeth partial orthodontic treatment that finishes within 6 months.

25.04~25.10
There are orthodontic treatments that aim to achieve a perfect 100 points without missing anything, including the midline and occlusion relationship, and there are also treatments that focus only on the areas the patient wants to correct while keeping the time and cost down.
This may be due to time constraints from marriage, employment, immigration, and so on.
It can also be an orthodontic treatment that selectively moves only the necessary parts while considering the condition of the gums and other factors.
Today’s topic is the latter, that is, partial orthodontic treatment for the front teeth.
The patient came in wanting correction for tooth alignment only.

25.04
The midline is not aligned, and the gum line is uneven.

The reason the gum line is uneven is because of the crowded tooth.
The molar occlusion relationship is different on the left and right, so the upper and lower midlines do not line up.

A condition in which only the lateral incisor protrudes outward and the central incisor is positioned inward like a vaulted tooth is called Angle Class II Division 2 malocclusion.

Considering the time and cost, the patient wanted alignment only, so we recommended partial orthodontic treatment for the front teeth.
Since the patient said visibility did not matter between the MTA appliance and the lingual 2D appliance, we recommended MTA.

25.08
This is the appearance 4 months after the start of treatment.

The upper teeth alignment is perfect,

and the lower teeth alignment is still a little lacking.
After continuing orthodontic treatment for about 2 more months, the appliance was finally removed in October.

When the height levels of the front teeth are aligned, the uneven gum line also naturally becomes even.

Because this is partial orthodontic treatment that corrects only the front teeth, the molar occlusion remains unchanged.
Now, let’s look at the before-and-after comparison.
The total treatment period was 6 months.

25.04~25.10
The midline discrepancy remains as a limitation of partial orthodontic treatment, but the alignment itself, including the crowded teeth, is perfect.
In particular, the front lower tooth indicated by the blue arrow that was protruding outward also naturally aligns with the surrounding gum line during the alignment process.

25.04~25.10

It is a very satisfying result considering the time and cost the patient invested.
Now, let’s look at the facial comparison.

Compared with the beginning, a small amount of interproximal reduction was performed so that the teeth would not flare outward, and the lip line was maintained as it was.

25.10
Because only the minimum necessary tooth movement was performed over a short period, there was no root resorption.
We introduced crowded front-teeth partial orthodontic rapid correction—was this helpful?
For those who want simple orthodontic treatment before marriage or employment and are limited by time and cost,
we hope this post was helpful.
