Hello,
This is Apgujeong Orthodontic Clinic.
Today, I’ll talk about Invisalign Lite.

24.11~25.10
A condition in which the molars are interlocked and cannot meet properly is called a scissor bite.
Today, I’ll show how we treated four issues—midline discrepancy, scissor bite, spacing, and deep bite—using Invisalign Lite.
This patient visited our clinic for orthodontic treatment a year ago.
They came after being referred by another patient who was already undergoing Invisalign treatment, and this patient finished treatment even before the referring patient did.

24.11
From the front, the upper teeth cover the lower teeth quite a bit, showing a deep bite, midline discrepancy, and spaced front teeth.

The biting relationship shown by the blue arrow is called a scissor bite.
It is a common malocclusion seen in the last molars.

The upper molar is positioned outward from the arch,

and the lower molar is tipped inward.
There was mild crowding, midline discrepancy, scissor bite, spacing, and deep bite.
Invisalign Lite was sufficient, so we recommended Invisalign Lite.
After wearing all 14 aligners allowed in the Lite program from December 2024 to April 2025, this is the result.

25.04
The midline has improved a lot compared to the beginning, though a slight discrepancy still remains.

To achieve perfect rotation of the lower premolar, treatment was carried out with attachments for elastics in place.

A palatal orthodontic screw was also used for faster correction of the scissor bite.

The molar that had been tipped inward was also well uprighting, and the scissor bite was resolved.
Also, with the force of the elastics, the rotation of the lower premolar was mostly improved in the first set.
Additional aligners were then made for further improvements such as midline matching and closing small spaces.
From May 2025 to October 2025, treatment was completed after wearing all the additional aligners.

25.10
A precisely aligned midline is clearly visible.
The deep bite has improved, and now more than half of the lower front teeth are visible.

25.10
The molar occlusion now shows a precise Class I relationship.
Now, let’s look at the before-and-after comparison.
The total treatment period was 11 months, with one remaking.

24.11~25.10
The space between the front teeth has disappeared, and to prevent it from opening again, it was firmly secured with a fixed wire retainer.

The tipped molar has been well uprighted.

24.11~25.10

24.11~25.10

24.11~25.10
With the improvement of the scissor bite, the molars that could not interlock properly before now fit together well.
Now, let’s look at the facial comparison.

24.11~25.10
As the midline that had been misaligned with the nose and philtrum now matches the face, the symmetry stands out.

24.11~25.10
Using the space created by the gaps between the front teeth, the protrusion was also improved to some extent,

and root parallelism is also good without root resorption.
Even if there are many issues that need to be corrected through orthodontic treatment, if you have experience and know-how with Invisalign treatment,
clean and good results can be achieved in a relatively short period of time.
