Invisalign Lite Treatment for Deep Bite, Crossbite, Protruding Teeth, and Crooked Teeth

I will show you the orthodontic results, not just that it is all Invisalign.

Today, I’d like to talk about Invisalign Lite.

Malocclusions that can be treated within 6 to 9 months can be treated with Invisalign Lite.

Malocclusions that require more than that should be treated with Invisalign Comprehensive.

However, whether a patient’s condition can be sufficiently treated with Invisalign Lite within 1 year, or whether Invisalign Comprehensive taking more than 1 year is needed, is decided by the doctor.

What this means is that it depends on whether the doctor can solve it within 6 to 9 months with their skill.

If the doctor has a lot of Invisalign experience and good skill, the case will feel less difficult and the treatment period will also become shorter.

Some patients who have already received consultations at several Invisalign clinics are told, “It can’t be done with Invisalign Lite,” or “You need Invisalign Comprehensive for more than a year,” but in actual cases, there are quite a few situations where Invisalign Lite is enough.

Today, I will introduce how crossbite and deep bite can be perfectly corrected with Invisalign.

The upper teeth cover the lower teeth significantly, showing a deep bite where the front teeth bite too deeply, and the upper and lower dental midlines do not match.

The blue arrow also shows a crossbite, where the canine teeth bite in reverse.

The front teeth were crooked, and the shape of the lower arch was not rounded but more square.

Since the molar bite was good, we recommended orthodontic treatment with Invisalign Lite.

After waiting a month and a half for the appliance to be made, treatment began in August 2023.

This is the result after wearing all 14 appliances available in Invisalign Lite over 4 months.

If one is replaced every 7 days, wearing all 14 appliances takes about 4 months.

The alignment had improved and become neat, but

The canine crossbite was still present, and although the midline had improved, it was not perfectly aligned.

This is the final bite shown in the ClinCheck simulation.

According to the plan, the front-tooth midline should be aligned and the crossbite should be corrected, just like in this simulation.

You may be wondering why this difference occurs.

The patient may not have worn the appliance diligently, or even if they did, teeth and jawbone are living tissue, not a computer, so the teeth may not move exactly 100% according to the simulation.

To prepare for such variables, Invisalign Lite allows one additional fabrication opportunity.

We decided to proceed with a remake and took a break for the month required to manufacture the appliance.

This is what it looks like with the additional appliance.

For a perfect improvement of the midline and crossbite, elastics were prescribed in the additional appliance.

The blue arrows indicate the hooks for the elastics, and since the front teeth are visible, transparent attachments were bonded to the teeth.

For the upper side, which is a non-visible area in the palate, durable metal hooks were attached, and elastics were started.

The midline has aligned,

and the canine crossbite has been perfectly corrected.

As the angle of the protruding front teeth improved, the protrusion also improved.

The total treatment period was actually 8 months, excluding the waiting time after ordering appliances in the middle.

The black triangle in the upper front area was also eliminated through interproximal reduction.
