Hello
This is an Invisalign dental clinic.
One type of orthodontic treatment that Invisalign handles relatively well is intrusion treatment.
If you intrude the front teeth, it becomes gummy smile correction; if you intrude the molars, it becomes open bite correction.

In open bite cases where the front teeth are not touching,
if you want to prevent relapse after orthodontic treatment, it is better to do intrusion treatment, which pushes the molars into the bone, rather than simply lowering the front teeth, even if it takes more work.
A side benefit is that the lower face becomes smaller through self-rotation of the mandible.
I will show you how molar intrusion treatment is done with Invisalign.
This patient in their 50s came in this May because of open bite.
I explained that intrusion treatment, which pushes the upper molars up into the bone, was necessary.

I also explained that both Clippy-C and Invisalign can achieve similar effects over a similar period of time, so the appliance choice could be made comfortably.
The patient chose Invisalign for aesthetic reasons.

23.05~23.12
The first eight teeth up to the first premolar are not touching, and from the second premolar to the molars, three teeth on each side are in contact.
In this situation, the treatment plan is to intrude a total of six upper molar teeth, three on each side that are in contact.

Miniscrews were placed in the palate from the beginning.
At this point, to avoid the unwanted tooth movement that can be expected, the ClinCheck treatment plan that adjusts the angulation, torque, and position of the teeth is also a very important part.
If you make the treatment result on ClinCheck look too nice, the actual result will never come out that way.

After completing the first set over 7 months, we moved on to remaking additional appliances for refinement.

The bite that had been a concern was also finished well.
The purpose of the additional appliances is to fine-tune the slightly misaligned midlines and, anticipating some relapse after orthodontic treatment, create a slightly overcorrected bite.
It looks like the additional appliances will take about 3 months to complete.
If the first set took 7 months and the additional appliances take 3 months, the total treatment period is 10 months.
If you ask whether Invisalign alone can do intrusion treatment well without using miniscrews,
of course it can, but I explain that it takes about three times longer.
Even with Clippy-C, you may wonder whether an open bite of this degree could really have been improved perfectly in just 10 months,
but intrusion treatment with Invisalign works very well.
