This student visited the clinic because of a crowded canine.

They came in hoping to correct the crowded canine, but it is also visible that the upper and lower midlines are not aligned.

Midlines often shift toward the side of the crowded canine, and when the crowded canine improves, the midline naturally aligns as well.

What causes a crowded canine?

Because the canine is the last tooth to erupt, it comes down after the front teeth have already taken up the available space.

In other words, since it is the tooth that erupts latest among the front teeth, there is often not enough space for it to come in, which makes it prone to becoming a crowded canine.

The way to prevent crowded canines is very simple.

Before the canine erupts, pediatric orthodontic treatment can be used to widen the space where the teeth will come in. The key to pediatric orthodontic treatment is to widen the space for tooth eruption in advance.

But it is absolutely not too late now.

Treatment was started with Invisalign Teen. It takes about a month to manufacture the aligners. After the production period, the appliances arrive.

On the first day, only some of the necessary attachments were placed

so that the child could get used to the appliance.

If it is too difficult to wear the appliance from the start, children may lose motivation.

About 7 months had passed since treatment began.

Orthodontic treatment does not always involve only wearing Invisalign aligners; in many cases, elastics also need to be worn.

This child also wore elastics only while sleeping for about 3 months.

And in January 2024, we made a new set to address the descended canine.

This remaking was not because the child could not wear the appliance properly. It was strategically planned from the start to include one remaking.

Step 2: Align the canine That second step began with remaking in January 2024, and in February the second Invisalign set was started. From February to June, treatment continued for about 4 more months and was completed.
