Invisalign Lite Orthodontic Treatment: Crowded Teeth, Ectopic Eruption, and Crossbite

Today, I’d like to introduce Invisalign Lite.

Invisalign Lite is a short-term program used for malocclusions that can be addressed within 14 aligners (or 14 + 14 with additional fabrication).

I have also shown many Invisalign cases in previous posts.

The insight to judge whether treatment can be completed within 14 stages depends absolutely on the attending doctor’s experience.

Today, let’s review another Invisalign Lite case.

This patient visited one year ago for Invisalign treatment.

You can see the crooked front teeth.

The molar marked with the blue arrow is a crossbite, where it bites in the opposite direction against the lower molar.

As shown in the occlusal photo, this is because the tooth is positioned toward the palate.

A permanent tooth that erupts outside the normal alignment like this is called an ectopically erupted tooth.

After a detailed diagnosis, we recommended Invisalign Lite with the goals of improving alignment and correcting the crossbite.

The patient had already received a consultation at another clinic, so they were somewhat concerned about whether Invisalign Lite

that is, treatment with 14 + 14 aligners, could really be completed successfully.

In the end, the patient cooperated well with treatment, and we were able to achieve a good result.

This is the condition after wearing all of the first set of 14 aligners.

The height difference of the front teeth is still disappointing.

The alignment has become straight, and the tooth that had erupted ectopically and moved toward the palate has returned to its proper position.

To address this, elastics were prescribed.

In the photo, elastics are hooked between the metal attachments.

There were additional areas to improve, such as alignment and the height of the front teeth, so we decided to make additional aligners.

We began remaking the aligners in June, and after waiting about a month and a half, the patient started wearing the additional aligners in August.

The total number of additional aligners was 14.

After wearing all of the additional aligners over three months from August to October, treatment was completed.

The bite that many patients worry about is also good.

We work to break the stereotype that Invisalign ends with a poor bite.

There is no root resorption, and root parallelism is good.

Even if you visit several clinics before treatment, once you have chosen your attending doctor, patients who trust and follow the doctor they selected well will always have good results.
