Hello
This is Yonsei Baro Dental Clinic, an orthodontic clinic in Apgujeong.
The commonly called “buck teeth” are a representative type of malocclusion that can often be treated easily and quickly.
How long does Invisalign Express treatment take?
This post is for those who are curious.
Depending on the case, attachments may be used when correcting buck teeth, but front-teeth partial orthodontic treatment can also be done with Invisalign.
What types of Invisalign are there?
Invisalign is broadly divided into three programs depending on the difficulty of treatment.
If it can be resolved within 7 aligners: Invisalign Express
If it can be resolved within 14 aligners: Invisalign Lite
For complex cases that require more than that: Invisalign Comprehensive

Invisalign Express 24.02~24.07
Today, let’s look at and talk about a case in which buck teeth were treated with Invisalign Express.

24.02
This patient visited in February this year to treat front-teeth crowding.
From the front, there did not seem to be much of a problem,

but the two front teeth protrude like buck teeth, and especially the right front tooth is significantly elevated.

The molar bite was in good condition, so Invisalign Express was recommended.
Invisalign Express comes with only 7 aligners delivered, and there is one chance for remanufacture.

The Invisalign treatment plan is called a ClinCheck.
Let’s look at this patient’s ClinCheck.
For front-teeth partial orthodontic treatment, interproximal reduction was arranged at 0.2–0.3 mm per area between the front teeth for two purposes: to create a small amount of space for the teeth to be aligned, and to reduce the black triangles that inevitably occur after orthodontic treatment in adults.
One more point to note in the ClinCheck is that the molars are set to “not move” in order to maintain the good molar bite.
The teeth shown in dark gray are teeth with no movement at all before and after treatment.
This “not move” setting is needed in quite a few cases.
As with this patient, it is also to minimize unnecessary tooth movement in order to achieve good results within 7 stages, and if there is an implant, the implant tooth may also be set to not move.
Also, if a deciduous tooth is being preserved and used for as long as possible due to the absence of a permanent tooth, the deciduous tooth is set to not move so that it is not subjected to orthodontic force.
From March 2024 to April 2024, all 7 aligners in the first set were worn over two months.

Front-teeth alignment was about 97% complete.
To finish the slightly under-rotated teeth and the small spaces, an additional set, meaning remanufacture, was started.
The waiting time for the aligners after remanufacture is one month.
For that month, the final No. 7 aligner from the previous set was worn only while sleeping as a rest period.
In that way, treatment was completed after wearing all of the additionally produced aligners through July 2024.
Here is a before-and-after comparison photo.
The initial visit was 24.02, and treatment ended in 24.07.

24.02~24.07
Treatment was completed without black triangles thanks to a small amount of interproximal reduction.

24.02~24.07
The good bite was maintained, and

24.02~24.07
the buck teeth found their normal alignment.

A cleaner smile was achieved.

What was the actual Invisalign Express treatment period, excluding the aligner fabrication period?
Invisalign Express treatment period
Two rounds of two months each, for a total of four months.
I hope this is helpful for people who want to correct buck teeth but are hesitant about orthodontic treatment because visible appliances feel burdensome.
