Putting customer needs first,
analyzing each individual face,
and finding clues for surgery,
The Sherlock Holmes of plastic surgery 🕵️
Dr. Kim Jaegon of Eton Plastic Surgery Clinic
I have put together Dr. Kim Jaegon’s honest story,
who values communication with patients
and performs surgery while keeping every possibility open,
into a few keywords.
#Understanding Needs
Understanding needs should come first.
Without needs,
you would not have come to a plastic surgery clinic in the first place.
I place importance on discussing things with patients,
and before making a decision,
I try to find the best result through enough conversation.
I try to make sure there is not a big gap between
what the patient wants
and what I suggest,
and to understand their preferences,
I often ask them to look at many photos.
Even when common points are rare from photos alone,
I try to listen to the patient’s opinion
and suggest an appropriate direction.
The patient makes the final decision directly,
but based on my intuitive experience as a doctor,
I make recommendations.
I explain by combining what I can realistically do
with the better direction that suits the customer.
#Analytical Ability
The quick analysis and judgment that say,
"This will probably make things prettier"
seem to come from experience and intuition.
Intuition, too, comes from experience,
so in the end, experience seems to be important.
When consulting,
I consider comprehensively
not only the customer’s situation
and the direction of beauty that people currently prefer,
but also
what they say
and even their usual makeup style.
Through conversations held while the customer is relaxed,
I try to get to know the patient more closely
and figure out which direction would be best.
#YouTuber
As the host of Eton TV,
I run a YouTube channel,
so among the people who come in for consultations,
there are many who have watched the videos in advance
and mention them.
I am not a full-time YouTuber,
but because they already know in advance
what kind of personality I have
and how I conduct consultations,
we meet with a little more common ground,
so conversations and consultations seem to work out positively.
#Eye and Nose Surgery
At Eton, eye surgery and nose surgery
are our main procedures,
and personally,
I think nose surgery suits my personality better.
In the case of eye surgery,
compared to nose surgery,
more immediate
and intuitive judgment is sometimes required,
but
nose surgery allows me to try and judge
various methods even if it takes time,
so I think it is more comfortable.
And not long ago,
I underwent under-eye fat repositioning.
By experiencing surgery myself as a patient
and directly going through the hospital’s processes,
I saw many things in a new light,
including areas that needed improvement.
Rather than casually saying,
"This is no big deal,"
I found myself thinking,
"These things can be uncomfortable,
so we need to pay more attention to them."
#Sense of Stability
Many people say
that my voice gives them a sense of stability,
which makes me highly trustworthy.
This is both my strength
and my weakness,
but
if I put it positively, I am calm,
and in a different view, some may think I am not very assertive.
I believe that getting angry is not good
for myself or for others,
and if I hope for things to change for the better,
there is no need to say things in a hurtful way.
I always think that everything has a chance,
probabilistically,
and keeping all possibilities open
may sometimes be a weakness,
but I continue striving for growth
while understanding my strengths and weaknesses.
