The dry winter season is one of the harshest seasons for acne,
atopic dermatitis,
and dry skin. As the skin’s moisture
runs dry, wrinkles appear and
the skin loses elasticity,
or the moisture barrier breaks down, causing acne and
atopic dermatitis to worsen.
In the case of acne and atopic dermatitis that occur in teenagers and adults,
they can cause pigmentation,
so managing them in advance is
an important shortcut to clear skin. Today, we will tell you how to care for acne,
atopic dermatitis, and dry skin in winter.
How to Care for Acne-Prone Skin

Dry weather makes it easier for dead skin cells to build up,
which can worsen acne. For acne care,
exfoliation at home or skin scaling
removes impurities from pores and
gets rid of dead skin cells that
cause inflammation. If existing acne is
severe, after scaling,
extraction performed at the dermatology clinic
removes the acne seed and eliminates
the cause.
If you want to remove acne completely,
Agnes laser selectively removes only the bacteria
that cause acne in the dermis,
or depending on the patient’s condition,
injection treatment for inflammation, oral medication,
and regeneration laser treatment may be used together.
How to Care for Atopic Skin

Dry air worsens atopic dermatitis,
so it is important to manage indoor temperature and humidity properly.
High temperatures can trigger itching,
so the indoor temperature should be kept moderately low,
and a humidifier should be used to maintain
proper humidity.
It is best to keep the indoor temperature at around 20°C and
humidity at around 50%, and the indoor air should be
ventilated frequently.
Also, when showering or bathing, water that is too hot may strip away moisture,
so wash with lukewarm water, and avoid
scrubbing with a towel or cloth that is too irritating to the skin. After bathing, pat the skin dry to remove moisture,
and apply a lotion that helps
moisturize the skin.
How to Care for Dry Skin

If dry skin is left untreated,
the skin barrier can break down,
so it must be cared for with sufficient moisturizing.
The dry air and cold wind of winter can rapidly
cause moisture in the skin to evaporate,
so at the end of your skincare routine,
apply a cream with good moisturizing power
that suits your skin.
However, applying a large amount does not mean it will add more moisture,
and it may cause acne or
folliculitis, so apply an appropriate amount.
After that, if your skin feels dry, spray mist often
to replenish moisture. However, as the moisture in the mist evaporates,
it can also cause the moisture on the skin surface to evaporate,
so it is better to pat the mist into the skin with your hands after applying it,
and if you have a moisturizer, it is better to apply it together.
It is also good to protect the skin from winter UV rays
by using sunscreen.
