Hello.
With a cumulative clinical experience
of '5,000' cases,
I am an 18-year orthodontic specialist.
I am the chief director of Smile D Dental Clinic,
Dr. Oh, the Smiling Doctor.
Our clinic is staffed by three specialists working together,
and we provide treatment with consideration for the patient's overall health
and even quality of life.
From one-on-one face-to-face consultation
to aftercare,
we take full responsibility, and based on our patients' trust,
we achieved an impressive Naver rating of 4.82.
To focus more closely on each patient,
we are providing intensive care in October
for only '30' patients.

"My teeth are so yellow
that I’m really stressed...
But dental whitening costs
are a bit much,
Can’t I make them white
with self-care?"

If you clicked on this post, I think you may be having a similar concern.
Because teeth are one of the first things people notice when you open your mouth,
if they are stained yellow,
it can become a major appearance-related complex.

Some people may feel that the cost of dental whitening is well worth the investment,
but for others it can feel burdensome as well (^^;)
so you may be wondering whether there is a way to make teeth white on your own.

So, as an 18-year orthodontic specialist, I will personally
address your questions through the rest of this post,
focusing on the following two topics:
- The realistic effectiveness of DIY whitening
- Things to be careful about when doing DIY whitening
If you read through carefully, you should find useful information.

How effective is
DIY whitening in reality?
If you search online for dental whitening costs, you can check an approximate average range,
but the variation is so wide, and the amounts presented by each clinic are different, so you may be confused.
In fact, talking about dental whitening costs in blogs like this can also be problematic under medical law,
and it is difficult to provide exact guidance because the cost varies depending on
▲ each clinic's treatment system ▲ the materials and equipment used ▲ the type of medication ▲ the patient's dental condition, and more.
As mentioned above, since this dental whitening cost can feel burdensome to some people,
many also try DIY whitening.

To begin with the conclusion, over-the-counter DIY whitening products do work.
Professional products used in dental clinics and products sold on the market
are basically based on hydrogen peroxide as the key ingredient.

When this ingredient is activated, radical molecules are generated,
and the radicals break down stains on the tooth surface, which is the principle behind making teeth appear whiter.

What should you be careful about
when doing DIY whitening?
Following what I mentioned above,
you may be wondering what else you should know about DIY whitening.

DIY whitening realistically requires quite a bit of time,
and it is difficult to expect dramatic changes relative to the effort involved.

According to Ministry of Food and Drug Safety standards, whitening agents used in dental clinics contain hydrogen peroxide at a concentration of about 14% or less,
while products sold on the market contain about 3% or less.

Because the hydrogen peroxide concentration difference is so large,
dental whitening can improve the color to the degree you want while finishing treatment in about 30 minutes to 1 hour,
whereas over-the-counter products need to be applied for at least about 6 hours, and they only brighten teeth by one or two shades from the current state.
The reason over-the-counter whitening products have such limited effects due to their low hydrogen peroxide concentration is <safety>.

This is because if a non-medical professional allows a product containing hydrogen peroxide to touch the gums or swallows it,
rarely, side effects such as inflammation, irritation, allergic reactions, or whitening of the gums may occur.
In simple terms, you can decide whether to invest time in DIY whitening,
or invest money in dental whitening.

At our clinic, the treating doctor, including me as an orthodontic specialist,
a specialist in integrated dental medicine, and our newly joined orthodontic specialist,
each see the patient face-to-face and directly
carefully analyze the degree of discoloration and thickness on the tooth surface.
Based on this, we design a low-irritation, high-efficiency treatment plan so that the patient can maintain the natural healthy look of their teeth
while also smiling beautifully with a naturally brighter color.

In this post, for those of you who may be 고민ing over dental whitening costs,
I honestly explained the pros and cons of DIY whitening.
Here is a brief summary of the post.
1️⃣ Over-the-counter whitening products are based on hydrogen peroxide and can make teeth appear brighter.
---
2️⃣ However, there are limits due to concentration restrictions, and improper use may cause side effects.
I hope that those reading this post will also
think carefully about which method is more efficient for them, visit a dental clinic and speak directly with a doctor,
and find the approach that suits them so they can regain a bright, beautiful smile. ^^
If you contact us, we will kindly guide you through our treatment and reservations.
