The 20 Years of Know-How Behind Re:Born Plastic Surgery, as Revealed by the Director of a Gangnam Sinsa Plastic Surgery Clinic

Hello. I’m Park Jae-hyun, the CEO and director of Re:Born Plastic Surgery, where we have been meeting patients for more than 20 years at Exit 1 of Sinsa Station.

“Director, I hope you keep this clinic running for a long, long time!”

If someone asks me about the most memorable patient I’ve ever had, I think of a person who came in holding their mother’s hand.

They had come for their mother’s eye surgery in her 60s, and after the consultation, they suddenly looked at me and said they would bring their own daughter too, so I should keep the clinic operating for a long time.

Then the mother beside them said, “Our daughter had eye surgery here when she was young, and she really loved it. Now she’s earned money and is having me get surgery...”

I still vividly remember how moved I was at that moment.

Over the past 20 years, when the years have changed twice over, plastic surgery clinics in this area have in fact sprung up and disappeared repeatedly.

Even so, I’m truly grateful that I have been able to keep Re:Born Plastic Surgery going since 2002.

Today, based on what patients have said over the years, I’d like to talk about why Re:Born Plastic Surgery has been able to stand its ground and remain at Sinsa Station.

Responsibility

From a doctor’s perspective, there is no such thing as “it’s absolutely possible.”

We must explain the realistic scope based on the current balance and condition of the patient’s face.

If you chase the director’s greed or the patient’s greed, it can lead to unintended results.

And in the end, the patient is the one who has to bear those results.

Not giving excessive treatment and setting realistic goals.

That is what I, as a doctor, am supposed to do.

A doctor is someone who saves patients, not someone who ruins them.

Through my mentor, I learned how a plastic surgeon can help move a person’s life forward.

During medical school, I saw someone who had lived a life of isolation because of facial deformity, but after meeting my mentor and receiving reconstructive surgery, that person began a new life, and that is when I decided to become a plastic surgeon.

It has already been more than 30 years since I became a board-certified plastic surgeon, but even now I treat patients with the same mindset I had back then.

A Thorough Consultation

People say plastic surgery is a battle of trends.

The standard of beauty keeps changing, and just as clothes and styles go in and out of fashion, trends in plastic surgery keep changing too.

There was a time when some people wanted to become a beauty that looked as if it had been stamped out of a mold.

But times have changed a lot now, and people want to become naturally beautiful while still preserving their own individuality.

As if they had always been beautiful from the moment they were born.

Of course, even now, there are still patients who come in with photos of celebrities or influencers they want to resemble.

I don’t know about other plastic surgery clinics, but I actually welcome that.

It lets me know exactly what style they like and what purpose they have in mind.

In fact, if they have a photo of the look they want, I prefer to ask them to show it to me.

These days, technology is so good that we can search for it right on the spot. ^^

To keep up with changing trends while performing procedures suited to each person’s individuality, a thorough consultation must come first.

We need to diagnose each patient’s facial condition, listen carefully to what they want, understand it fully, and then create the design.

A complex appears largest in one’s own eyes.

Because of that, what the patient wants and what the doctor thinks may differ.

This is why even after a surgery goes well, satisfaction can still be low.

If you take enough time and have the consultation in a comfortable atmosphere, you can talk fully about the concerns you have and clearly explain the goal you want to achieve.

To fully bring out each person’s appeal, the consultation time with the doctor performing the surgery is truly important.

Technical Skill

It goes without saying that a director must have technical skill.

Rich surgical experience and know-how in plastic surgery are essential enough that everyone recognizes their importance.

Because of the nature of plastic surgery, it involves faces of a wide range of ages.

The face is the part of the body that shows aging most clearly.

As people get older, the face sags and wrinkles appear.

As aging progresses, it brings not only aesthetic issues but also functional ones.

To take one of the surgeries I perform often, eye surgery, for example, drooping eyelids can cause eyelashes to poke the eye or create skin irritation, among other problems.

This is also one of the main reasons many middle-aged people in their 50s and 60s get eye surgery.

On the other hand, people in their 20s and 30s often visit to overcome a complex or to achieve brighter, more attractive eyes.

To properly meet what patients want, we need to truly understand these differences: the varying facial structures of different age groups and their different purposes.

Re:Born Plastic Surgery is made up of board-certified plastic surgeons who have long and extensive experience performing surgery on a wide range of patients, from teenagers and people in their 20s to middle-aged and older adults in their 60s and 70s.
