A Review and Prices of Wansan Gol Myeongga Bean Sprout Soup Rice and Sundae Soup in Apgujeong

Because it was the rainy season, I was extremely on edge, but it wasn’t raining. There were clouds in the sky, and maybe because the wind was blowing a lot, the clouds were moving in a rather dramatic way. I don’t know why, but on days like this I always end up craving food that warms you up from the inside.

Since it’s located at the corner of an alley, I had passed by it many times without really thinking about going in to eat, but thanks to the weather, I finally visited.

Seeing that it says Wansan Gol Myeongga Apgujeong Branch, I guess it’s a chain. It turns out there are branch locations in more places than I expected. That must mean the taste is guaranteed!!

In the summer, I actually don’t usually look for hot, or even piping hot, soup rice, but maybe because of the weather, the restaurant was packed with customers.

I don’t know why places in summer always offer kongguksu as a seasonal menu. I guess that means so many people look for kongguksu in summer!!

Let’s take a look at the menu and prices at this Apgujeong restaurant, Wansan Gol Myeongga.

The prices felt about 1,000 won cheaper than other soup rice restaurants.

After you order, side dishes are served according to the menu you ordered.

Even though it’s a soup rice restaurant, I like that they don’t just serve kimchi; they also bring other side dishes. Seaweed flakes are already set out on the table from the start.

Some of you may even be able to guess what I ordered just by looking at the side dishes.

Yes.

That’s right. I ordered the basic bean sprout soup rice.

The bean sprout soup rice at Wansan Gol Myeongga comes with an egg served separately. Personally, I like it when the egg comes separately instead of being added into the bean sprout soup rice.

First of all, there was a huge difference between the amount of rice served with the bean sprout soup rice and the rice served with the sundae soup rice. So I was like, what is this...

I had already thought the bean sprout soup rice was too cheap, so I wondered if maybe that was why they gave such a small amount of rice.

But there was a reason the rice portion was small. I felt bad for judging too quickly!!

I couldn’t rush to a conclusion about my review of the bean sprout soup rice at this Apgujeong restaurant.

The bean sprout soup rice at Wansan Gol Myeongga in Apgujeong is served in a ttukbaegi, so it was still bubbling when it arrived at the table. Because of that, I was able to eat it really hot throughout the meal.

On cloudy, gloomy days like this during the rainy season, I really think eating something with warm broth like this is so good.

Going back to the bean sprout soup rice review, the reason for the small rice portion is revealed in the video: some rice has already been mixed into the soup rice. It may look like a small amount, but once you eat it, you’ll realize that isn’t the case at all.

The sundae soup rice at Wansan Gol Myeongga in Apgujeong is also 8,000 won. It may be similar to the price at other sundae soup rice restaurants, but because the bean sprout soup rice is so inexpensive, I felt like this was a restaurant with great value for money.

I think the highlight of sundae soup rice is the chives.

And for the sundae soup rice, you can also order only sundae or only meat.

As for the sundae soup rice review, it had a clean taste without any fishy smell or unpleasant odor. You may not taste a rich broth, but you can enjoy a clean and refreshing soup flavor.

And the seaweed flakes placed on the table are, of course, great to add to the bean sprout soup rice and eat with it.

I think this is optional.

At first, you lightly place some seaweed flakes on the egg, then add a little bean sprouts and broth, and eat the egg—that’s a really tasty way to enjoy it. There isn’t actually one correct answer. Eating in a way that suits your own taste is what makes it delicious.

Even so, I think it’s not bad to eat by applying tips that other people already know.

My review of the bean sprout soup rice is that I was seriously full. Also, at first I eat it with just a little spicy chili pepper added so I can enjoy the clean flavor of the bean sprout soup rice. Then, once I’ve eaten about half, I add a bowl of rice and the seaweed flakes. That way, even though it’s the same dish, bean sprout soup rice, I can enjoy two different tastes, which makes it feel like I experienced the flavor even more.

Wansan Gol Myeongga in Apgujeong is on the affordable side, so you might be doubtful about the taste. But the fact that it has stayed in one place for a long time and has so many reviews seems to mean there’s a reason for that.

I think I’ll keep coming back to it whenever I’m craving soup rice.
