When people think of a barbecue restaurant in Apgujeong, the place that comes to mind without much debate is probably Samwon Garden. I heard a long time ago that Samwon Garden had started construction for a renovation, and now the work has finally been completed, so it has reopened.
Even before the renovation, I thought Samwon Garden was impressive for using such a large plot of land right in the middle of Gangnam, and after the renovation, it seems even more stylish and grand.
On June 20, 2022, I was invited to visit on the first day of reopening after the renovation.

Samwon Garden is an official Baeknyeon Store, recognized for its excellence and growth potential by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
In fact, even without such certification, everyone already knows that Samwon Garden is a great barbecue restaurant.

To celebrate the reopening after the renovation, Samwon Traditional Marinated Ribs will be available at a 30% discount from June 20 to July 17. If you’re thinking about marinated ribs or planning a gathering in Apgujeong, it might be a good idea to visit Samwon Garden during the discount period.

Samwon Garden is famous not only for its barbecue, but also for its side dishes, which are known to be neat and delicious one by one. There wasn’t a single side dish I didn’t want to eat; everything was delicious.
I heard that the kimchi they serve uses kimchi from celebrity cooking researcher Hong Shin-ae. Hong Shin-ae’s napa cabbage kimchi is a Pyongyang-style kimchi, and thanks to a broth containing concentrated Korean beef, it is said to have a deep flavor and to keep its crisp texture even when stored for a long time.
The soupy, Pyongyang-style kimchi had a good flavor, so I’m planning to order some to eat at home.

The Korean beef yukhoe was served with pear, water parsley, raw chestnuts, and egg yolk.
After breaking the egg yolk and mixing it with the yukhoe, I ate it with pear and water parsley, and the rich flavor and springy texture really whetted my appetite.
As an appetizer before eating delicious meat, the yukhoe was very suitable.

The condition of the meat needs no explanation. The marbling was incredible.
I was thinking it looked delicious, then realized I had forgotten to take a photo, so I snapped one when there was only one piece left.

The delicious meat was grilled beautifully on the grill by the auntie, who paid close attention to it, so it was cooked to the perfect doneness without burning.
Because of that, the juices burst in my mouth. I think this is why Samwon Garden has long been known as a great place for gatherings in Apgujeong. The quality of the meat is truly excellent.
Since the renovation took a long time, I worried a little that if the exterior had become more impressive but the quality or taste of the food had declined, it might no longer be the same as before. But I don’t know why I even bothered worrying about that.

Good-quality beef doesn’t really need sauce, since the meat itself is flavorful enough from its juices, so I just ate it with a light dip of salt.

On the day Samwon Garden reopened after its renovation, which is a great place for gatherings in Apgujeong, wine was the perfect way to celebrate.
It was Duckhorn Napa Valley Merlot 2019, a Cabernet Sauvignon produced in Napa Valley, California, USA.
It had a slight acidity and went down smoothly, so it paired very well with the meat. It was a perfect reopening day at Samwon Garden, complete with wine.
