I think about what to eat every day, but in fact, the things I want to eat and the menus that come to mind always seem pretty similar. Because of that, I often order curry, and this time I decided to try a new curry specialty restaurant instead of the one I always order from, so I ordered from Coco Ichibanya Apgujeong Rodeo branch.
I had passed by Coco Ichibanya before, but had never eaten there. Still, since it says it is the world’s No.1 curry specialty restaurant, I felt I could trust it and eat with confidence, so I carefully checked the curry menu before placing my order.
The Coco Ichibanya curry arrived, and the case had a strong lunchbox-like feel to it, which made me really look forward to the taste.

When I removed the paper package, the containers came out in a two-tier structure like this. I liked that they were plastic containers with lids. Plastic wrapped with film cannot be reused, but plastic containers with lids can sometimes be reused.

The first Coco Ichibanya menu item I’ll introduce is the regular-spicy vegetable curry. I ordered it because it is a vegetable curry with potatoes, carrots, onions, asparagus, and kabocha squash. The vegetables were cut into large pieces. It was my first time eating kabocha squash in curry, and it matched better than I expected.

I also added a mini pork cutlet. The mini pork cutlet did not come in a separate case; it was placed on top of the rice.
Since the fried pork cutlet was placed on the rice, some of the oil soaked into the rice, which was a little off-putting.
Still, I did enjoy it. Maybe it would have been fine if I had eaten it in the restaurant, but since I had it delivered, I think the oily feeling came through in the rice.
I ate the rice and curry on their own, and also dipped the pork cutlet in the curry. At first, I thought the Coco Ichibanya vegetable curry had a lot of vegetables because they were cut into large pieces, but as I ate it, I realized there actually wasn’t that much vegetable in it.

One of the reasons I ordered from Coco Ichibanya was this menu item: chicken cream omurice.
Rather than the rice inside the omurice being cream-based, chicken cream was poured over the top like sauce. So it would have been tasty enough on its own, but because cream can get heavy as you keep eating, mixing it with curry made it just right.

At Coco Ichibanya, you can choose the spiciness of the curry. So I chose very spicy, about the level of Cheongyang chili peppers. Since the main rice is omurice and it contains chicken, you can think of the curry as a basic curry broth without solid ingredients.

I also added a mini pork cutlet. Since there wasn’t really anywhere to place it, it came in a separate container.

Following along with chicken cream omurice!! I had never eaten at Coco Ichibanya before, so I picked the same menu like a copycat after trying chicken cream omurice and ordering this menu again. And I added half a sausage!! The sausage was placed next to the chicken cream omurice. It looked cute.

I chose the curry spiciness as challenge spicy, which is twice the very spicy level. I tried it because I heard it wasn’t that spicy, but honestly, I wasn’t sure whether it really deserved to be called challenge spicy.

I wouldn’t say Coco Ichibanya is bad. It’s not something I’d divide into good or bad. That said, we did decide that from now on, we’ll keep ordering delivery from the curry place we’ve always ordered from.
