It had been a long time since I last ate ramen, and since I couldn’t see any ramen shops near Aho, I hadn’t been thinking about getting ramen.
Then, one person who was really craving ramen searched hard and found a ramen shop called Sanjome!!
That’s how we ended up visiting a ramen shop for lunch.

First of all, the shop is very small, and only two staff members were working there. If it had been even a little crowded, we might have had to turn around and leave without eating.
There aren’t many tables.
At Apgujeong Station Ramen Sanjome, you also have to place your order using a self-service ordering machine. I was glad I had looked at the menu in advance; otherwise, I think I would have spent a lot of time in front of the machine.

Sanjome Menu
Sanjome Ramen, Tonkotsu Ramen, Shoyu Ramen, Shio Butter Ramen, Tsukemen, Karakara Ramen, Butadon, Gaku Nidon, Tonkatsu, Torikaraage, Yaki Gyoza, Croquette, Assorted Fry, Mini Rice Bowl, Cold Ramen
It may seem like a lot, but the menu is made up of the kinds of dishes you’d expect at a ramen shop.

Karakara Ramen
As you can tell from the name, this is a spicy ramen.
Uniquely, the topping wasn’t sliced meat like sliced pork, but meat that looked like it had been grilled over charcoal.
I tasted the broth, and it wasn’t as spicy as I expected, but I think it would be good for people who feel tonkotsu ramen gets too heavy.

Tonkotsu Ramen
Since it was my first visit there and I didn’t know what it would taste like, I ordered the most basic option, tonkotsu ramen.
It was decent.
But personally, the noodles tasted quite floury and felt a bit overcooked, so I don’t think I’d visit again.

Sanjome Ramen
Since the ramen was named after the shop, I had high expectations.
This Sanjome Ramen is apparently Sanjome’s volcano ramen, developed using lava rocks to help maintain the ramen’s temperature and provide enhanced nutritional value.
I’m someone who is curious about what the nutritional value of ramen even is.
At first, I thought the broth looked red, so it would be spicy, but compared to Karakara Ramen, it had no spicy feeling at all, and even compared to tonkotsu, I couldn’t tell if it was spicy. I wonder if they just made it this color.
I thought it was a little interesting that it had corn in it, and personally, I think the best part of ramen is the soft-boiled egg.
Seriously, why won’t this soft-boiled egg ever turn out like this at home!! It’s so delicious.

And here is the lava rock I mentioned earlier.
I found it a little interesting that there was a stone in it.
But... oh no...
We happened to order two of these, and the lava rock in one bowl of ramen was broken, so stone dust was flying everywhere.
We told the staff and got a new one, but it still left me with a slightly unpleasant feeling.

Since ramen alone would be disappointing, we also ordered Torikaraage.
Anything fried is delicious, right? Maybe because the lava rock broke and the ramen didn’t meet my expectations, the karaage was so bland that I left it unfinished.
I ended up leaving karaage behind.
