Hello, this is Dana Plastic Surgery, “Sewn as it is.”
When is the best season to have hair transplant surgery?
Also, does the result differ depending on the season? Let’s find out together with Dr. Park Jae-hyun of Dana Plastic Surgery.

People often say that if you have surgery in the summer, the heat and heavy sweating can cause the operated area to fester or develop inflammation, so it is best to avoid surgery in the summer if possible.

Especially for people whose jobs require them to work mainly outdoors, or people who naturally sweat a lot, there is a tendency to avoid summer for any kind of surgery.
For those who do not want to undergo surgery in summer because of such personal reasons, we cannot insist on recommending surgery. However, in most cases, because they manage themselves well after surgery and get plenty of rest, there is not much of a problem.

Then what about hair transplant surgery in winter?
If you have looked into hair transplant surgery, you may have heard about follicle survival rates.
There are many factors related to follicle survival rates, and one of them is the storage condition of the follicles.
From the time the follicles are harvested from the donor area until they are transplanted into the recipient area, they are kept under the optimal temperature of 4°C so that they can be safely stored.
In the cold winter, you may worry that the follicles could freeze or fail to survive well because of the storage temperature. However, once transplanted, the follicles are no longer in a “stored” state; they are in a state of being “absorbed” into your body, so they are well maintained by body temperature.

Therefore, spring, summer, fall, and winter have no effect on hair transplant surgery, and there is no difference in the results.
If you are considering a hair transplant, rather than the season, how about looking for an “experienced clinic” that can provide the surgery that is right for you?
