Hello.
I am Moon Seong-hoon, the CEO and chief doctor of Lifton Dermatology, preparing to open a clinic near Sinsa Station.
These days, I am really busy getting ready to open the clinic.
I started preparing in March this year, and it has already been eight months.
I am sincerely handling every step of the process, from floor plan work to logo selection.
Thanks to that, I have not been able to go out with people around me when they contact me about having a drink on a day off for quite some time.
As the year comes to an end, I’m sure many of you will have more company dinners and gatherings.
There is one question that people who get Ulthera at the end of the year always ask.
Can I drink beer tomorrow?
I have a company dinner next week. Is that okay?
From when can I drink again?
Today, I will explain this in detail.

Effect on the skin
In general, drinking alcohol is not good for the skin.
For those who are curious about why, I will explain a little more in detail.
When our body consumes alcohol, it releases histamine, which causes blood vessels to expand.
As a result, facial flushing can occur, and it can also trigger inflammation.
This is often why inflammation worsens after alcohol consumption.
For that reason, it is better not to consume alcohol.
However, when it comes to social life, there are cases where it is unavoidable.
To give the conclusion first, I would say that one-time drinking after Ulthera is okay.
To avoid any misunderstanding, I want to emphasize this: it is best to avoid it if possible.

Reasons it is not recommended
Actually, there is no clear evidence that alcohol consumption interferes with the effects of Ulthera.
Then why is alcohol consumption not recommended after Ulthera?
First, it is necessary to understand the skin condition after Ulthera.
Ulthera uses a laser to deliver thermal energy from the dermal layer to the SMAS layer.
Many people think that because there is no injury to the epidermis, Ulthera only affects the deeper layers of the skin.
However, that is not the case.
The skin barrier can temporarily weaken due to repeated exposure, mechanical stimulation, and similar reasons.
Therefore, after the procedure, when you look at your face, you may feel slight swelling and warmth.
If you consume alcohol at this time, inflammatory metabolites will be released.
As a result, it can only make swelling worse or slow recovery.
(I explained swelling in detail in the post below. If you are curious, I recommend reading it first.)

When can you drink again?
After Ulthera, it usually takes about 1 to 2 weeks to return to a completely normal state.
That is why I usually say that it is okay to drink after 1 to 2 weeks.
However, you cannot make a hasty judgment based on posts like this.
Recovery varies from person to person.
If 1 to 2 weeks have passed but you still have swelling, warmth, tingling, or similar sensations, I recommend drinking only after those symptoms disappear.
Conclusion
Today, we looked at alcohol consumption after Ulthera.
In fact, there is something more important for getting the proper Ulthera effect.
That is an adequate diagnosis.
If Ulthera is performed without a proper diagnosis beforehand, side effects such as burns or hollowing of the cheeks may occur.
Therefore, it is important to check whether the place you plan to visit thoroughly understands your condition on a one-to-one basis.
I recommend carefully considering these points before visiting.
