Are you taking Wegovy injections,
or considering a prescription?
Many patients have
similar questions about Wegovy.
So we prepared this.
The “Wegovy, Ask Me Anything” series!!
Actual Wegovy users
often ask these questions,
and a doctor answers them kindly
from the patient’s perspective.
From basic facts about Wegovy
to lifestyle management,
let’s go through them one by one now.
Q. I sweat a lot after a Wegovy injection. Is that okay?

A. Wegovy is a GLP-1 agonist,
and because it causes metabolic changes in the body,
some patients may experience
increased sweating.
This is one of the common effects
during the body’s adjustment to a new medication.

- In most cases, it is temporary,
and often gradually goes away over time.
- During periods of heavy sweating,
make sure to stay hydrated,
and manage it so that dehydration
or skin irritation from sweating does not occur.
and seriously interferes with daily life,
or if other symptoms (fever, headache, etc.) occur,
please consult a hospital.
Q. On the other hand, I have chills so severe that I need an electric heating mat. Why is that?

A. Chills are a symptom in which the body trembles and feels cold,
and they may occur during the early stage of Wegovy use
due to an antigen-antibody reaction.
If severe, symptoms such as body aches and skin tingling
may appear.
If the chills are mild,
they may be part of the body’s adjustment to the medication,
so there is no need to worry too much.
However, if they continue along with severe chills, fever,
and body-ache symptoms,
they may be due to an infection or another adverse reaction,
so you should inform medical staff immediately.

Q. Is it abnormal if my appetite does not decrease even after the injection?
A. Wegovy is a medication that promotes weight loss
by increasing satiety.
However, some users may experience
a situation where their appetite does not decrease,
and this is not uncommon and can be explained by several reasons.
- Individual differences in drug response
There are individual differences in sensitivity
to GLP-1 receptors.
In particular, depending on factors such as
insulin resistance,
metabolic diseases (diabetes, high blood pressure, fatty liver, etc.),
and the speed of drug metabolism,
the effect of Wegovy can vary.
For some people, appetite suppression appears quickly,
while others only feel the effect after reaching a high dose,
so there are individual differences.

Q. What is insulin resistance?
A. It refers to a state in which the body’s cells
do not respond adequately to insulin.
In other words, even if insulin is secreted from the pancreas,
cells in the muscles, fat, and liver
do not properly absorb glucose,
causing blood sugar to remain elevated.
- The gap between expectations and reality
Some patients start with the expectation that
“my appetite will disappear as soon as I get the injection.”
However, the effect of Wegovy appears slowly
and gradually,
and it is important to understand that
the desire for food does not disappear 100%.
Today, we took time to answer questions
that Wegovy users may have
