Hello, this is Woo Ri Plastic Surgery.
Today, I’d like to talk about the latest trends in facelift surgery and the surgical methods used. Surgery continues to evolve over time, and facelifts are no exception. Methods once considered standard are sometimes revised over time, and new techniques can appear and produce better results. If you want a good facelift review, let’s take a look at which method may be the right choice.
How to get a good facelift review

In 1995, a paper published by a doctor named Dr. Stuzin marked an important turning point in facelift development. He emphasized that to improve nasolabial folds (smile lines) and marionette lines (lines around the mouth), certain retaining ligaments must be released. The zygomatic ligament is important for improving nasolabial folds, and the mandibular ligament is important for improving marionette lines. He explained that effective lifting is possible only when these ligaments are released and the SMAS (superficial musculoaponeurotic system) is pulled. This method is still included in textbooks today, and many doctors follow it and achieve good results.
Recently getting attention is what method?

More recently, in 2018, a method called the deep plane lift, proposed by Dr. Jacono, has also attracted significant attention. The deep plane lift is a method that lifts the skin and the SMAS together. The advantage of this method is that surgery is possible even for people with a weak SMAS layer. However, there may be somewhat less ability to make fine adjustments tailored to each individual’s facial condition.
In other words, Stuzin’s extended SMAS method and Jacono’s deep plane method can be seen as the two most representative modern surgical techniques currently recognized.

A facelift is not simply about pulling the skin; the key lies in how the SMAS layer and retaining ligaments are handled. Since both Dr. Stuzin’s and Dr. Jacono’s methods have their own advantages and disadvantages, it is important to choose the method suited to the patient’s facial condition, such as skin thickness, wrinkle pattern, and whether they have had previous procedures. If you want a good facelift review, it is essential to have a thorough consultation with an experienced specialist.
