Hello. This is Woori Plastic Surgery.
One of the most common questions after arm liposuction is how diet should be handled before and after surgery. To get straight to the point, liposuction is not a procedure that makes you lose weight; it is a procedure that helps with dieting. In other words, what is removed is the fat layer, and maintaining the results and refining the line after arm liposuction depends greatly on your own care.
Do You Need to Diet Before Surgery?

Some people try to lose as much weight as possible before arm liposuction. However, we do not recommend losing or gaining weight excessively. It is best to come in at the weight you normally maintain. For example, after arm liposuction, the fat cells in the arms are reduced, so the arms do not gain weight as easily, but weight may be more likely to accumulate around the abdomen or thighs instead. That is why maintaining your overall weight is much more important.
Postoperative Diet Management

For about 2 to 3 weeks right after arm liposuction, your body may be in a weakened state because tissue fluid, blood, and other fluids have been drained. During this period, excessive dieting or spicy and salty, strongly stimulating foods can actually prolong swelling. Instead, we recommend a mild, light diet and drinking plenty of water. If needed, diet medication prescribed by the hospital can also be used together.
Exercise After Surgery

Exercise that puts strain on the surgical area of the arms is possible starting about 4 weeks after surgery, while light walking or lower-body exercise is possible after about 2 weeks. In particular, as bio-bond forms in the treated area, you may initially feel stiffness or pulling, but gradually increasing activity is the safest approach.

Arm liposuction is a procedure that helps shape the line, and maintaining that line and making it look better is up to you. Liposuction does not end with the surgery alone. After surgery, you can maintain a beautiful line through basic care, so please keep this in mind.
