To Recover Faster After Breast Surgery
Lymphatic Drainage Massage!
Bongbong Plastic Surgery

Hello! This is Bongbong Plastic Surgery.
Today, we’d like to talk about “lymphatic drainage massage” for helping recovery after breast surgery.
Have you heard that recovery after breast surgery is important? Because breast surgery involves placing implants inside the body, it is important to help the body recover normally after surgery! Among the useful ways to support recovery, lymphatic massage can help in various ways, so we’d like to introduce it.

After breast surgery, the lymphatic system, which helps protect the body, has to process far more metabolic substances than usual. Because it suddenly has to handle a larger amount at a very slow pace, stagnation can occur.
When this happens, the parts that remain stagnant and cannot drain can become a cause of pain and swelling. That is why massage that helps lymphatic circulation is needed even more.

Although the location of lymph nodes can vary congenitally from person to person, about one-third of the body’s lymph is located in the neck. So today, we will focus on massage methods centered on the lymph nodes in the neck.

First lymphatic drainage massage: starting from the sternum, the hard bone located in front of the chest, and moving toward the collarbone, gently stroke upward three times in a brushing motion with the skin in contact with the skin. After finishing one side, do the same on the other side.
At this time, please do it without applying lotion!

Second, place your index, middle, and ring fingers behind your ear, gently push vertically, then lower them downward in the direction lymph drains, and fully relax before returning to the starting position. Repeat this 5 times.
After completing 5 repetitions, move to the middle area and repeat the same method: stretch with pressure similar to placing a coin on the skin, then lower it. Repeat this 5 times.

Third, cross both hands and place them in front of the chest, then position the fingertips in the hollow above the collarbone and make circles outward in the same way 5 times.

Fourth, starting from behind the ear, which is the beginning point of the sternocleidomastoid muscle, located in the V-shape at the front of the neck, slowly stroke three times toward the front of the collarbone while turning your head as if sweeping backward. Repeat on the other side three times and slowly stroke downward.

Fifth, gently push your nose toward the back of your head and imagine a few strands of hair being lifted from the ceiling. Feel your body lengthen gently from the top of your head to your tailbone, lightly pull the back of your head with your nose, slightly rotate your shoulder blades to stabilize them, lower your right arm slightly to fix the shoulder, and as you feel the top of your head and shoulders moving farther apart, grow taller and tilt your neck to the opposite side.
