The Real Worries of a Cheongdam Dermatology Clinic Director in His 10th Year Since Opening

Hello.

I am Oh Gana, a dermatologist with 16 years of experience.

Today, I’d like to talk about something I’ve never shared anywhere before,

the honest worries of a Cheongdam dermatology clinic director in his 10th year.

This is a photo taken when I first opened my dermatology clinic, and it brings back memories ^^

Since opening the main Cheongdam branch in 2016,

nearly 10 years have passed.

In that time, after Dongdaemun, Jamsil, and Magok,

we are now preparing the Bangbae branch as well.

(It has not been finalized yet.)

And this is the opening ceremony site for the newly opened Magok branch in March this year.

The staff has grown, the system is in place,

and looking at it this way, anyone would think it is a stable,

well-run clinic, right?

But... from here on, this is actually

where the worries begin.

At first, it was "Should I open one more branch?"

Then it became "Should I grow the system more?"

In this way, little by little, my ambitions grew,

and I expanded as well.

But once the clinic had settled in to some extent,

the task of building a system that can run even without me

turned out to be really difficult..

Simply increasing the number of people

does not create a system.

Medicine is ultimately work that depends on human hands,

and up to now,

I have treated patients with my own hands.

From the customer’s perspective,

when another director performs the procedure,

"Will the same level of satisfaction really be achieved?"

That is probably why, even with network clinics,

people say that "each branch is different."

To solve that problem,

only medical staff who have been verified at the Cheongdam branch

are allowed to open a clinic,

and to maintain the same quality at each branch,

we are making efforts starting from the main branch.

I think that working with verified medical staff like we do now,

resolving customers’ skin concerns,

and growing little by little like that

is ultimately the way that lasts the longest.

Let’s go a little slower

Let’s not push ourselves too hard

In conclusion,

this is what I want to say.

Rather than expansion, protect the "quality."

Let’s not go beyond the scope

that I can take responsibility for.

So even today,

I only provide treatment that I can be responsible for.
